《清平樂 – 村居》- （宋）辛棄疾

 

茅簷低小，溪上青青草。

醉裏吳音相媚好，白發誰家翁媼？
大兒鋤豆溪東，中兒正織雞籠。

最喜小兒亡賴，溪頭臥剝蓮蓬。

 

Idyllic life by Xin Qi-ji (Soong Dynasty)

 

The thatched-roof bungalow,

Girt by the brook and the verdant meadow.

The lilting Wu dialect, so tipsy, so mellow —

Who is this grey-haired dame and her beau-fellow?

Their first son weeds the beans, where runs the east flow,

The second weaves a coop, hands moving to and fro.

The third, the most doted, lies by the grassy brook,

That cheeky one peels lotus pods in the sun’s glow.
