五律《惜春》 [唐] — 杜牧
花開又花落, 時節暗中遷。
無計延春日, 何能駐少年。
小叢初散蝶, 高柳即聞蟬。
繁豔歸何處, 滿山啼杜鵑。
Lament for Spring by Du Mu (Tang Dynasty)
Behold, blossoms rise, anon fall in gloom,
Seasons in, seasons out, on silent wing.
Alas! no craft can tie down fleeting spring,
Alack! nor art can let youth stay abloom.
As thickets lure butterflies in fair plume,
Willows begin to hear cicadas sing.
Ah, where have all the flowers gone a-fling?
Athwart all hills, cuckoos’ loud wails bode doom...

Lament for Spring by Du Mu (Tang Dynasty)
Blossoms rise in bloom, anon fall in gloom,
Seasons in, seasons out, on silent wing.
Alas! no art can bid fair youth e’er stay,
Alack! nor craft can hold the fleeting spring,
As thickets lure gay-pinioned butterflies,
Willows begin to hear cicadas sing.
Athwart all hills, cuckoos bode doom with wails —
Ah, where have all the flowers gone a-fling?
