五絕·孤釣 – 孟朝崗

 

霜落池邊樹，鷗棲葦下灘。

老翁依瘦石，一線一漁竿。

 

Angling Alone by Meng Chao-gang

 

Upon the trees, pool-side, doth frost alight,

Beneath the reeds, gulls nestle, snug and tight.   

By one bare rock, one fishing line, one rod,

Alone, there doth angle a hoary wight...

At a tree-hid pool clad in frosty veil,

Beneath the reeds, gulls nestle, head to tail.

Alone, by one bare rock, a whitebeard boy —

A-fishing, one hook, one rod, and one pail...
