仲夏采風錄 – 孟朝崗
(Miscellanies of Midsummer)
On apricot trees, the golden fruit smile with pride,
Into the crystal-clear creek, some cooling shades slide.
Above the fields, purple martins circle and dance,
Cuckoos coo on and on through the wilds far and wide,
Grain-in-Ear-born mantises flutter their pinions,
Vying with clime, lotus humbrellas let skiffs hide.
Oh, under such an idle midsummer moonlight,
A new verse writ to allay the sad summer tide.
