謝客風容映古今，發源誰似柳州深？

朱弦一拂遺音在，卻是當年寂寞心。

 

A Quatrain by Yuan Hao-wen (Jin Dynasty)

 

The grace of Xie Ke glows, in cadence, through all time,

Who flows his lyric fount further than Liu Zhou’s rhyme?

A pluck of the crimson cord —  his echoes still resound

— a solitary heart that pulses at his prime.
