【翻譯聽寫】練習之十二 -- 動物與機器

這次作業還是給出中文譯文和英文錄音。英文錄音用來做聽寫練習。文章的題目是《動物與機器》。該文曾被收入陳冠商主篇的《英語背誦文選》　（上海外語教育出版社，1988）。

翻譯寫作：不看/不聽英文原文，把中文譯文翻譯成英文。交作業時請注明是你的翻譯作業。希望大家踴躍參與，互相批改點評。

聽寫：如果你不想做翻譯部分的練習，或已經完成了翻譯部分的練習，則可做聽寫練習，即把你能聽懂的英文錄音在不看英文原文的條件下書寫出來。交作業時請注明是你的聽寫練習。

中文譯文:

動物與機器

動物的身體很可以與某種機器如火車頭相比。實際上，動物的身體就是一台機器．它是一台由許多部件組成的機器。每個部件起某種特定的作用，並具有特殊構造使它適合於這種作用，所有的部件互相依賴、彼此合作，以完成機器的整個任務。火車頭必須添加燃料，如煤，木柴或其他可燃物質。燃料的消耗給機器提供動力或能量。動物的身體也得補充燃料，它被稱為食物，給動物同樣地提供能量。為使火車頭裏的燃料燃燒以及動物體內的食物氧化，必須提供氧氣。火車頭是由特殊部件構成的；接受並燃燒燃料的爐膛、運送蒸氣的管道，使車頭運行的輪子及排出廢氣的煙囪。與此相似，動物的身體也是由各種部件構成的：攝入並吸收食物的消化道、排出廢物的排泄器官以及運送氧氣和保存養料的血液的動脈與靜脈，還有使動物行進的腿或翅膀。 （江治　譯）
