詠主人壁上畫鶴寄喬主簿崔著作 - 陳子昂

 

古壁仙人畫，丹青尚有文。
獨舞紛如雪，孤飛曖似雲。
自矜彩色重，寧憶故池群。
江海聯翩翼，長鳴誰複聞。

 

On My Host’s Wall: A Mural of a Crane

Upon this olden wall, a mural paint’d

By an immortal, its hues not yet faint’d.

A dancing crane scatters its plumes like snow,

Alone, it soars through white clouds, high and low.

Though it seems proud of its vivid colour,

It still recalls its poolside flock’s dolour.

Athwart vast rivers and seas, its wings fly,

Yet who’d fain hearken its long and loud cry?
