The Tomb of Lord Yue – (Ming) Gao Qi
The mighty tree, though boughless, braves the northern gale,
The hero and his eternal grief I bewail.
Albeit fiats had ordered him to draw back,
He pressed to rescue two royals from the captor’s jail.
So shameful, the knavish crown hid its own bow,
Fie, of the Sword of State who else dared avail?
Atop the Qixia Ridge I glance back once again.
The tombs, unseen, lie hidden in the dewy veil.
