A Verse by Yan Ji-dao
At the lamp-lit banquet, her ditty draws me nigh
Miss Jade Flute, in silver light, a feast to my eye.
Who dare begrudge me — drunk upon her melodies,
When all fades, I return, her spells of wine still high...
The spring air so hushed, the night, for aye, holds the sky,
Azure clouds like Halls of Chu — too far to descry.
O, my soul in dream is wont to roam unfettered —
Again, the catkin-clad bridge of Xie I glide by.
