題鶴林寺僧舍 – （唐）李涉

 

終日昏昏醉夢間，

忽聞春盡強登山。

因過竹院逢僧話，

偷得浮生半日閒。

 

A Quatrain by Li She

(Inscription on the Wall of He-Lin Temple)

 

Amidst drunken dreams I idle my life away,

I suade myself to climb the mountain, as all say

“Spring will soon fade.” Passing by a monk’s bamboo yard,

His talk helps me at once gain half a sober day.
