民謠

 

有女不嫁弄船郎， 一年空守半年房。

 有朝一日回家轉， 點燈熬夜補衣裳。

 

A Folksong

 

Never marry thy lass to a boat-lad,

Half the year, her bed lies empty and sad.

Till one day he returns home safe at last,

By lamp she doth darn their garb — all rag-clad.
