《靜心賦》王勃

 

悠悠天地,攘攘塵世,

心躁者比比,而靜心者稀稀。

 

Heaven and earth — so vast, so wide,

The mortal world — a bustling tide.

Restless hearts crowd here and there,

Alas, placid minds are rare, rare.

 

夫靜心者,能安於內而不為外擾。

處喧囂而守其寧靜, 臨紛擾而持其淡泊。

 

He who stills his heart rests in ease,

Unshaken by the world’s unease. 

Amidst noise, his soul stays serene,

To front chaos, he maintains his mien.

 

視名利如浮雲,蔑榮辱若清風。

於繁華中獨辟寧靜之隅,

思無邪,念無雜,心歸澄澈之境。

 

Regarding fame and fortune as clouds that fleet,

Dismissing grace or disgrace — a breeze too brief to meet.  

Amidst the gaudy world, he carves a place of peace,

Sans soiled thoughts, sans vain caprice. 

His heart finds solace in a lucid space

Where virtue blooms with silent grace.

 

可聽風之細語,可觀雲之舒卷,

可悟天地之妙理, 在困境時亦能平心靜氣,

不焦不躁,以沉穩之態應對艱難。

 

He listens as whispering winds softly whirl,

He watches clouds drift, curl and uncurl,

He discerns the deep truths of Nature as they unfold,

Even in plight, his heart stays calm and bold.

   

不亂於心,不困於情, 不畏將來,不念過往。

靜心以養德,德厚而性純; 靜心以明智,智達而思敏。

 

No turmoil stirs within his heart,

No tangled feelings play their part;

No fear of what the days may bring,

No clinging to any bygone thing

A tranquil mind lets virtue grow,

And purer virtue tames each ebb and flow;

A tranquil heart makes wisdom bright,

A sharpened mind gives thought its flight.

 

能斂浮華之態,去驕奢之氣。 得平和之韻。

觀古今之賢達, 皆以靜心為基,修己達人。

 

He rids himself of vainglory’s gleam,

And sheds his pride in pomp extreme.

He finds tranquillity sublime,

As sages did in ancient time.

With peace within, their path began —

From self-cultivation rose the refined man.

 

以靜製動,以柔克剛,

從容於世間,行止有度, 取舍有則。

 

Still within tames riotous without,

Softness disarms what strength cannot rout.

He observes the world with tranquil eyes,

And he acts calmly without disguise.

He chooses with his steady poise,

He discards without inner noise.

 

願世人皆能悟靜心之要, 覓心靈之寧靜,

享人生之安然, 得靈魂之升華。

 

May all awaken to the grace of inner still,

And find their souls refined by serene will.   

When all find peace within their life,

Their souls transcend through toil and strife.  

 

如此,則心寧而世和,

意悠而情悅, 實乃人生之大幸也。

 

Hence, still hearts engender a world so calm,

Serene minds breathe joy — free of qualm,

A life thus lived — auspicious, tranquil and refined,

The greatest fortune is for aeons enshrined!
