至近至遠東西，

至深至淺清溪。

至高至明日月，

至親至疏夫妻。

(Eight Extremes)

 

East and west, so nigh yet so far by sight,

Clear streams, so shallow yet so deep they are.

The sun and moon, so high yet glow so bright,

As for bonds of spouse, so close yet so far.

記得以前好像也鼓搗過一次，碰巧今天又遇上了，那就再試一次玩玩吧。這首詩的文字看似簡單，但含意深遠，英譯似乎難以簡潔地轉達詩文的精髓。

 

My rendition seems so close, yet no cigar. No way could I perfectly convey the profound meaning of the original, especially when it comes to rhyme and syllables ... hmm
