獨坐池塘如虎踞，?

綠楊樹下養精神。?

春來我不先開口，?

哪個蟲兒敢作聲？

(The Praise of the Frog)

 

As if a tiger doth th’ pond occupy,

Neath green poplars for my catnap I lie.

If I don’t ever croak first when spring comes,

Which noisy bug dare utter any cry?

1910年毛潤之是17歲。他第一次離家來到50多裏外的湘鄉縣東山小學求學，在那裡他寫了這首《詠蛙》，這首詩被很多人認為是他傳世的第一首詩。（文字來之網絡，特此致謝）
