原文（見上）：幾千年以來，詩從代表部族與神通靈的祭司，變為“社會的家庭教師”（別林斯基），變為投槍與匕首，變為號角與火炬……最後變為現代人自我消費的語言遊戲——詩的“光環”已經一步步消逝，這已經是不止一代人的蛻變，似乎是前朝的事情了。

Over thousands of years, poetry has mutated from a priestly figure bridging mortal tribes and deities into the role of “the domestic governess” (Belinsky), then a symbol of spear and dagger, a token of bugle and beacon, and at last a mere game of words enjoyed by modern beings. Its original nimbus has gradually faded, and this mutation has endured for more than a generation, yet it seems but a thing of the past.
