一剪梅 中秋無月 — 辛棄疾

 

憶對中秋丹桂叢，

花在杯中，月在杯中。

 

今宵樓上一尊同，

雲濕紗窗，雨濕紗窗。

 

渾欲乘風問化工，

路也難通，信也難通。

 

滿堂唯有燭花紅，

杯且從容，歌且從容。

On that Mid-Autumn Day —

Midst osmanthus I chanced to stray，

In my cup those blooms lay,

In my cup the moon shared her ray.

 

Tonight, upstairs I stay —

Awaiting the Silvery Fay,

Gauze-panes damped by mist grey,

Gauze-panes drenched by mizzling spray.

 

I’d soar to Milky Way —

By riding the wind as my shay,

The road is far away,

The missives are hard to convey.

 

Ah, sheer candles so fey —

Reddening my chamber-like bay,

My cup I’d fain let play,

My song I’d fain let sing for aye.
