花褪殘紅青杏小。

燕子飛時，綠水人家繞。

枝上柳綿吹又少，

天涯何處無芳草！

 

牆裏秋千牆外道。

牆外行人，牆裏佳人笑。

笑漸不聞聲漸悄，

多情卻被無情惱。

(Spring Scenery)

 

Red flowers fade, green apricots small,

A blue stream skirts houses, where flying swallows call,

Spring breeze blows, few willow catkins drift and fall,

O, where may green grass not sprawl?

 

Outside, a wayfarer walks by a garden wall,

Inside, a swing rocks a lass, her laughter a thrall,

Alas, anon, she is gone, her melody withal,

His heart sinks, a sad stir starts to crawl.
