瘦蓮敗葦寒鴉

短橋黃葉疏杈

夜半翁疲鬥斜

西天月下

兩三雞犬人家

 

An Impromptu on Autumn Night by Meng Chaogang

 

Fading lotus, wilting reeds, cold crows nest,

A short bridge, leaves frail, sparse sprigs look depressed.

Midnight, an oldie tired, as th' Dipper slants west,

Beneath the moon devoid of zest,

Two or three dogs and cocks still not yet rest.
