A Verse by Ou Yangxiu
Yon the willows, thunders clap, the drizzles begin,
Tapping on the lotus, so crisp, so clear,
Anon, a partly eclipsed rainbow doth appear
At bower’s west, where we lean on handrails,
Awaiting the rise of bright Lunar Sphere.
I slowly roll the curtains down from the jade hooks,
When swifts fly back to painted beams to peer.
Our smooth bamboo sheet like cool ripples of mere,
Beside a pair of our crystal pillows,
A gold pin slips off the hair of my dear.
