時光用它那善於精工細作的巧手，
塑造了吸引每隻眼晴的可愛明眸，
它將如暴君一樣摧枯拉朽，
而最後勝利的隻能是醜陋。

因為時間帶著夏天前行不會稍停
直到醜惡的冬天將夏天消滅殆盡
樹漿凍凝成霜，旺盛的葉幾盡凋零
美麗被雪覆蓋，到處是光禿的枯景

假如夏天的精華沒有被提煉存貯
未留在密封的玻璃牆中成為囚徒
美麗與美麗的果效將一起被剝奪
夏天不再，更無人記得它的過去

但花已被提煉，盡管它們遇到冬天，
枯萎的是外表，其精華仍鮮活美甜。

   But flowers distilled, though they with winter meet,
   Leese but their show; their substance still lives sweet.
