A free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream till the current ends and dips his wings in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky.

一隻自由的鳥兒跳躍 在那風的後背 並且向下漂去 直到那湍流終止
並將他的雙翅
浸蘸在橙色的太陽光中
並敢於宣告這是他的天空

But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.

但另一隻鳥悄悄走近
下到他狹窄的鳥籠 幾乎不能夠看穿

他的雙翅被剪
且他的雙腳被綁 他隻能放開喉嚨歌唱

The caged bird sings with fearful trill
of the things unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom，

帶著那些不明事物的 可怕的顫音
但是他仍曾渴望
並且在遙遠的山丘
他的曲調被人聽見 因為這籠中之鳥 歌唱著自由

The free bird thinks of another breeze and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn and he names the sky his own.

那隻自由鳥想起另一陣微風 且那信風溫柔拂過歎息的樹叢 許多胖蟲兒在晨光下的草坪上等待 並且他號稱他擁有這個天空。

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing
