稚子牽衣問，歸來何太遲。
共誰爭歲月，贏得鬢邊絲。

 

Returning Home by Du Mu

 

Tugging at my robe, my young son asks me,

Father, why dost thou return home so late?

Who hath vied for the time and tide with thee?

Thou won grey threads on thy temples and pate.
