記得在讀法學院的時候，滿腦子想的總是做一個訴訟律師，上法庭，打官司，心想像劉德華在“法外情”或Tom Cruise在”A Few Good Men”裏那樣威風，申張正義。2000年在聯邦法院做璁期實習生更加深了這個想法。

2001年我回來到矽穀的一家律師事務所做璁期實習生。一開始也是盡量接與訴訟有關的案子。有一位與我同期的璁期實習生跟我特別投緣。他父親是一位“演而優則導”，從創業成功而轉戰風投的venture capitalist（可惜英年早逝，就在2001那個璁假因病去世）。有一晚在一個活動過後，我開車送我那位朋友回家。在路上我們做了一次深談。他對我說“Jerry,打官司的活那裏都可以做，可是隻有矽穀有這個得天獨厚的創業環境。你在這裏不做startup律師，去做什麽litigator，不覺得是來錯了地方嗎？”

與君一席話，勝讀十年書。在回家的路上仔細想想才發現，是呀！在矽穀叱詫風雲的人物多半是與新興公司/工業相關的人士。在這塊風水福地專攻訴訟未免太沒有意思（對我來說，無意冒犯任何Silicon Valley litigator的看官）。這一晃眼過去，我做startup律師也超過十年光陰了，見證與參與了無數公司的崛起，也經曆過兩次的downturn，成人夫，也為人父了，唯一不變的是對startup的信念與熱情。
