一語天然萬古新，豪華落盡見真淳。

南窗白日羲皇上，未害淵明是晉人。

 

A Quatrain by Yuan Hao-wen (Jin Dynasty)

 

Through ages, a natural phrase stays e’er sublime,

Once gilt verbiage fades, the purest tones will chime.

Tao yearned for wise ancients neath his southern sill,

It harmed him not to dwell in the Eastern Jin’s time.
