Contentment by Shao Yong (Northern Soong Dynasty)
No craving, no regret, no grief shall grow,
So, why boil in vain for dross to breed woe?
The moon, the breeze — take them in as you please,
Green hills, blue rills — yours to roam high and low.
Contentment outshines what elixirs might bestow,
To serve with joy, like the ox to and fro.
When gain an inch, never greed for a mile,
Soul at peace dreams on, till grey — sweet and slow.
