雜詩 -（其四）曹植

 

南國有佳人，容華若桃李。

朝遊江北岸，夕宿瀟湘沚。

時俗薄朱顏，誰為發皓齒？

俯仰歲將暮，榮耀難久恃。

(Miscellany 4)

 

In the south lives a belle of a fair soul,

Her looks - peach and plum abloom, gods adore.

At dusk, she rests on the Xiang River’s shoal,

At dawn, she strolls along the northern shore.

Though on her charm prejudice takes its toll,

To whom could she reveal her inner core?

Anon the year ends, beyond our control,

Beauty will fade, and youth will be no more.
