請教：入住加州的酒店，但酒店把替我簽收的貴重物品丟失

我在5月份入住加州的一家酒店，在入住前委托酒店前台替我簽收兩件網購的私人用品。
價值1000美金左右。

我查詢購物網站已將貨物發出，usps顯示在5月28日上午由前台的ZZ簽收，第二單貨物也在28
日下午由前台AA簽收。因私人原因，5月底不能如期入住這家酒店，就委托在美國的親屬聯係酒店，
希望酒店將貨物轉送到親屬的家裏。但聯係了幾次，酒店的負責人都推脫說貨物不知去向。

我不知道這種情況該如何處理，如何跟酒店交涉。我是不是可以提出讓酒店賠償？
