(Art salons)

(Series of Poems) Imagination of the Old City of Montreal, Part Three: Art Salon
By Li Li
Deconstruct a ray of bare sunlight,
And the colored clouds drift like feathers,
Falling onto the canvas, white walls, a woman’s face,
Blurring the line between the scene and the story.
Those landscapes, those
Landscapes forgotten by mediocrity,
Awakened by the blade,
Painful, yet exhilarating.
Those lives, those
Lives buried beneath layers of dust,
Swept clean by fluttering eyelashes, coveted by paint,
Reborn, and impossibly alluring.
A stroke of handsome highlights
Can fill the void of empty thoughts.
A single drop of worldly red
Can soften the rough edges of time.
Here, every artistic soul
Lines up at the exit of profit,
While beauty, solemn-faced,
Awaits its price.
