作為一個華裔美國詩人，我很高興有機會讀到這本中國古詩譯選。

這本書裏的原作者都是中國各個年代的著名詩人。五言絕句的簡單形式再加上這些詩裏的內容大多涉及日常的生活，平淡卻深刻，很容易引起後人特別是學生們的興趣與學習。我相信英文的讀者也會有類似的感受。

Ode to the Village

One glance two three miles away,

Four five houses with smoky chimneys.

Six seven pavilions,

Eight nine ten blooming flowers.

Comment

This poem is about the charming rural scenery in the countryside. It uses the brocade writing technique to arrange smoky villages, homes, pavilions, and flowers to form a scenery picture.  It expresses the poet's love and praise for the nature, and also reflects his positive attitude towards life.

譯者簡介：

Laura Hu, a high school student from Northbrook, Illinois. She was selected as the 2024 Global Youth Ambassador of Chicago Sister City International. Her artwork and writing have won many awards in competitions such as Peace Pal International, River of Words, Scholastic Art & Writing, Canada International Duanwu Festival Global Writing Competition, and published in Stone Soup magazine. She’s also an accomplished junior golfer with a passion to use her talents to help others. She loves learning Chinese language and strives to bridge the gap between the eastern and western culture.

版畫者簡介：

Zihua Zhang, born in Beijing, China, is a sophomore at Livingston High School in New Jersey. She is deeply committed to studying and sharing Chinese culture, using her talents to showcase its beauty and richness to a broader audience. Passionate about art, Zihua aims to bring warmth and encouragement to others through her creations. The illustrations in this book strive to capture the essence of classical Chinese poetry, inviting readers to immerse themselves in its beauty and spirit while fostering a deeper appreciation for its cultural heritage. In addition to her artistic pursuit, Zihua is also a talented dancer and singer and has won several regional and national competitions.
