在前麵貼出的作為日軍戰俘的我中國抗日將士，於1945年9月被澳軍解放後，便在亞包立刻舉辦了慶祝中華民國國慶的盛大慶典[詳見：流放在熱帶叢林的中國抗日將士(4)]，以表達這些身陷熱帶叢林的抗日將士對祖國的一片赤誠之心。下麵，則是澳洲媒體對中國軍人和當地僑民舉辦抗戰勝利後的盛大國慶的報導。

HAPPY CHINESE IN RABAUL DID NOT WANT SWING MUSIC

With a ceremonial parade at their new camp at Rabaul, 700 liberated Chinese soldiers, some of whom had been prisoners of the Japanese for seven years, celebrated the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Republic. The ceremony was attended by Major-General K. W. Eather, GOC 11th Australian Division, whose troops occupied Rabaul and liberated the Chinese.

Passing under two arches decorated with victory banners, Major-General Eather inspected the guard of honour and was welcomed by Colonel Woo Yien, GOC Chinese troops, who is a graduate of Chiang Kai-shek's military academy.

To bring news of the world to them after their captivity a wireless set has been provided at the Chinese soldiers' camp. On the first night the set was installed the Australian adjutant, Captain A. J. C. Gaul, of North Sydney, attempted to get a news session. Instead he got only a swing session. The Chinese drifted away in disgust. Then suddenly Captain Gaul brought in Chungking. By a happy chance China was broadcasting news, and hundreds of soldiers quickly swarmed around the set to hear the first words from their homeland in many years.
