ZT About CTUAAA

Chiao-Tung University Alumni Association in America (CTUAAA) was established half a century ago in New York City by Alumni 趙曾玨(1924), 陳廣沅(1922) and 陳良輔(1923), 歐陽藻(1927), etc. Since then, the number of CTUAAA members kept growing and reached 400 by 1965. In 1980, alumnus 王安 came up with and started to promote the idea of Reunion of alumni from Five Chiao-Tung University campuses, including National Chiao Tung University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University and Northern Jiaotong University. CTUAAA was now recognized as one of the most companionate, friendly and well-organized Chinese alumni associations in America.

Through holding a big gathering every five years and celebrating the centennial anniversary, CTUAAA has brought together the alumni all over America and built up strong tie between the overseas alumni and the five Chiao-Tung University campuses in China. In 1996, to celebrate the centennial anniversary of Chiao-Tung University, the then chairman James Chao and president Benjamin Cheng organizedorganized more than 100 alumni to visit five Chiao-Tung University campuses in Hsinchu, Shanghai, Xi’an, Chengdu, and Beijing.

CTUAAA has also done great contribution to the successful establishment of Electronic Engineering Institute in National Chiao Tung University. 趙曾玨, the then president of CTUAAA, initiated the idea of starting the Electronic Engineering Institute in 1966 during the celebration of 60th anniversary of Chiao-Tung University, which was recognized a first and very important step toward the re-establishment of the Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, namely the now National Chiao-Tung University.

The main objectives of CTUAAA and CTUAFA (Chiao Tung University Alumni Foundation of America, Inc, a non-profit educational organization) are to develop the unity of spirit among the alumni throughout America, coordinate alumni reunions, aid the Chiao Tung Universities in financing their educational activities, and aid the alumni and faculties of the Universities and their immediate family members in pursuit of higher education.
