It is great to talk about phenomenon,but there are two mistakes as below:
1. the hydrogen bond is between hydrogen in one water molecule and oxygen in another water molecule, not within one water molecule,not 兩個氫原子與一個氧原子通過氫鍵結合在一起,而成為一個水分子!!!
2. 虹吸現象 occurs if the attractive force between the pipe wall (such glass) and water is bigger than the force between one water molecule and another water molecule, while the wall diameter is relatively small (less than the diameter due to the contact angle).If this force is weaker,for example water in wax pipe, there are no 虹吸現象.
The chain theory is wrong as:
in water there are many hydrogen bond "chains", but in petrol, foe example, there are no hydrogen bond,ie, there are no chains,but the 虹吸現象still occurs,thus the chain theory is wrong!!!

液體在毛細管中上升是液體對管壁的浸潤作用與表麵張力交互作用的結果:液體首先浸潤管壁,然後表麵張力將液體拉上來使液麵變平,然後液體再浸潤管壁……。這是“毛細現象”,不是“虹吸現象”!
“虹吸現象”(Siphon)是什麽? Siphon is:
“A tube or conduit bent into legs of unequal length, for use in drawing a liquid from one container into another on a lower level by placing the shorter leg into the container above and the longer leg into the one below, the liquid being forced up the shorter leg and into the longer one by the pressure of the atmosphere.” (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/siphon)
不知道這裏的“虹吸現象”與您說的“氫鍵”,“表麵張力”,“分子之間的作用及和表麵的作用”……之類有何關係?
