Authorities on Monday identified the man accused of plowing his pickup truck into a group of bicyclists taking part in a weekend race in an Arizona mountain town, critically injuring several riders, as a resident of a nearby community.

據《美聯社》報導，這場賽事一共有數百人參加，孰料自行車手們行經小城市肖洛（Show Low）時，突然有輛皮卡車衝向車隊，多名選手被撞飛後倒地不起，疼痛的呻吟聲不斷傳來。

目擊者透露，事故發生後自行車帽、鞋子、被撞得扭曲變形的單車散落在街道上，還有1個自行車輪胎卡在肇事車輛的車頭。

皮卡車釀禍後撞到了電線杆停了下來，人們急得上前拍打車窗要駕駛出來，但肇事者卻倒車並逃離了現場。

肖洛警方表示，皮卡車駕駛為35歲的當地居民，在拘捕過程中中彈受傷，目前並無生命大礙，自行車手則有7人住院治療，其中6人狀況危急，1人情況穩定。
