2009年10月1日，中華人民共和國成立60周年國慶閱兵在北京舉行，三軍女兵方隊通過天安門廣場。
據台灣TVBS電視台報道，在這次大陸國慶閱兵中，有一群特別亮眼的閱兵隊伍，那就是大陸女兵；不管是三軍女兵還是女民兵，整齊劃一的踢正步都讓中外媒體大開眼界。據台媒觀察，大陸女兵踢正步的方式與台灣的“花木蘭”其實有很大的區別，大陸女兵的正步1分鍾走114步，台灣女兵踢“木蘭步”小碎步，1分鍾可以走144步。
報道說，大陸陸海空三軍女兵，精神抖擻踢正步，在天安門司令台前，成為最亮眼的一群解放軍；而身穿鮮紅色裙裝、搭配上白色長靴的女民兵，雖然不是專業軍人，但同樣的整齊劃一，讓大陸中央領導們眼睛為之一亮。
不過，仔細看看這些女兵們的動作，雙手在胸前左右擺動，雙腳踢正步的幅度，與男兵沒什麽兩樣；比照一下台灣女兵的“木蘭步”，雙腳是微微抬起的小碎步，因此，大陸女兵1分鍾走114步，而台灣“花木蘭”則是1分鍾走144步。
報道讚歎，大陸女兵展現出來的颯颯英姿，一點都不輸給其他的軍種，果然也成功的吸引中外媒體的目光。
