Acquainted with the Night 熟悉黑夜

I have been one acquainted with the night. 我是熟悉黑夜的過客。
I have walked out in rain—and back in rain. 我曾來回在雨中走過，
I have outwalked the furthest city light. 走過城市之光不及的角落。
I have looked down the saddest city lane. 我低頭走在最悲哀的街巷，
I have passed by the watchman on his beat 走過巡邏的打更人身旁
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain. 我無意解釋，垂下眼光。
I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet 我也曾站立，湮滅足音，
When far away an interrupted cry 當遠處傳來斷續的喊聲
Came over houses from another street, 穿過街巷，越過房頂。
But not to call me back or say good-bye; 那不是告別，亦非叫我回歸；
And further still at an unearthly height, 而在非塵世遙遠的天帷，
One luminary clock against the sky 還掛著明亮的鍾，但夜色漆黑。
Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right. 它宣告這時刻無所謂對錯。

最近，為了說明用文言七律在長度上足以應付十四行詩，我再次試譯如下。自知改寫得不夠好，雖然平仄相適，但沒有對仗，不敢稱為七律，權且拋磚引玉：
數番雨夜走長街
燈火闌珊人跡絕
巡警打更身旁過
無言未敢目光接
偶聞叫喊穿屋巷
非喚回家非告別
明鍾高掛天庭上
或子或寅渾不覺
