露從今夜白”說明了當時的時令實在白露，同時又給作者一種淒涼，寒意之感，意思是“葉上的白露從今夜開始，才發現是白的”，

“而天上的月亮還是故鄉的比較明亮”（這一句尤其關鍵，明明是同一輪明月，而作者卻固執地認為故鄉的比較白，更令得讀者體會到他的思鄉情節）
