【蘇幕遮】 範仲淹◆北宋 英譯

 

 

The azure sky with white clouds，

The earth covered by leaves gold，

The autumn hues join the ripples，

Above which is bright the chill mist.

Mountains reflect the sunset，

In which the sky and water connect.

The fragrant grass is callous，

Yet lies at the setting sun's blindness.

 

The gloomy spirit of hometown
bears in mind with the journey along，

Unless every night,

Decent dreams keep me asleep.

In the bright moon light，

Do not stay alone in a tower high，

Pour the wine on the sadness，

Turn it into tears of lovesickness.

芳草無情，更在斜陽外。

 

黯鄉魂，追旅思，

To Midway:

商籟詩的幾個要求：

1）Iambic 抑揚格： 弱 強 弱 強 弱 強 弱 強 弱 強

2）pentameter 五步 是左右腳各邁步一次，一步一音，五步十個音節

3) rhyme ABAB CDCD EFEF GG

4) three stanzas and last 2 lines

How can you please someone when you abused, =》‘some one
Even worse he has never been some regretful; =》12 syllables，re ' gret ful
But I pre-fer not to be any confused, =》11 syllables
I forgive the bad, meanwhile be forget-ful. =》 for 'give -> for 'give 13 syllables -> forget the forgiving


Yea, things better out of sight are out of mind
I think that is my way of being kind. =》being is 1 sylable
