Vide 'o mare quant'è bello ! -- Look at the sea, how beautiful it is,
Spira tantu sentimento. -- inspiring many sentiments,
Comme tu a chi tiene mente -- as do your softly spoken words,
Ca scetato 'o faje sunnà. -- which make me dream all day.
Guarda, gua' chistu ciardino; -- See how this light breeze,
Siente, sie' sti sciure arance. -- comes from the garden, bringing the scent of orange,
Nu prufumo accussì fino -- a fragrance without parallel
Dinto 'o core se ne va... -- for one whose heart is full of love!
E tu dice "I' parto, addio!" -- And you say: "I am leaving, farewell!"
T'alluntane da stu core... -- you would flee my heart...
Da sta terra da l'ammore... -- this land of love...
Tiene 'o core 'e nun turnà -- how can you leave it behind?
Ma nun me lassà -- Don't go away,
Nun darme stu turmiento! -- do not torture me any more!
Torna a Surriento, -- Come back to Sorrento
Famme campà! -- and do not let me die!
Vide 'o mare de Surriento, -- See the sea of Sorrento ,
Che tesoro tene 'nfunno: -- what a treasure it is:
Chi ha girato tutto 'o munno -- who has traveled the world
Nun l'ha visto comm'a ccà. -- has not seen anything like this.
Guarda attuorno sti sserene, -- Look around, these sirens
Ca te guardano 'ncantate -- who are enchanting you,
E te vonno tantu bene... -- and they love you very much
Te vulessero vasà. -- They would like to kiss you.
Torna a Surriento, -- Come back to Sorrento ,
Famme campà! -- and do not le me die!
