Did 72-hour water-based fasting a couple of times over a period of about two years. Not a very pleasant experience - after the first 36 hours, it was more like a struggle with will of power. Would not recommend it.
Intermittent fasting is very practical. Granted, everyone is different, and I could easily not have any food for a 24-hour period, on an ongoing basis. In fact, I always feel better when I am slightly hungry. For years (make it a couple of decades) now, my workday eating routine has been: snacks only throughout the day, and one meal for supper/dinner.
