諾貝爾獎獲得者約瑟夫·E·斯蒂格利茨（Joseph E. Stiglitz）教授於3月15日星期三在工會谘詢委員會（TUAC）（TUAC）及其經濟政策工作組主持的會議上對經合組織講話。 
他認為，提高利率適得其反和不穩定，並且中央銀行的做法很可能使經濟體和人民的情況變得更糟。 教授告訴經合組織，貨幣政策將無濟於事來解決導致當前高通貨膨脹的供應瓶頸； 相反。 存在替代性的政策，而這些政策並不具有更高的失業和不平等，而是長期收益。

Nobel laureate Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz addressed the OECD on Wednesday 15th March, at a meeting  hosted by the Trade Union Advisory Council to the OECD (TUAC) and their Working Group on Economic Policy. 
 
He argued that raising interest rates is counterproductive and destabilising, and that the approach of Central banks may well have made matters worse for both economies and people. The Professor told the OECD that monetary policy will do nothing to resolve the supply bottlenecks that are causing current high inflation; on the contrary. Alternative policies to fight inflation exist and these do not come with higher unemployment and inequality, but with long term benefits.
