時聞，日本國以最高外交國事禮遇接待我國國家主席胡錦濤，以此貼記之。

櫻花，生於日本，今也多見於北美各地。日本早於其他亞洲國家進入國際社會，就促其超越了自然，作為日本國的象征之一，升華為一個文化符號。文學藝術中 盛行symbolism, 櫻花的含苞欲放的粉紅、盛情滿開的彭芳、及紛紛潔白的悲落，自然地，無論是人生的體驗，或作為哲理的回味，都愈來愈被人們喜愛了。

內人學日語，十分內向少字，而多日本友人，她的一篇中文隨筆，寫的是北美觀櫻的感受；被我悄悄英譯了，發在國內四川英語網；為吾觸網入博後單篇閱讀量之高。頗為自喜，沾沾然。她常提起的 ‘生命之短，美麗稍瞬即逝’ 是否是這種文化影響呢，還是某種暗喻呢，我想這次觀櫻時將好好琢磨琢磨。

“在日本，櫻花盛開的季節是在3月和4月之間，南方開的早，越往北方開的越遲。這裏畢竟是加拿大，直到5月初才盛開。不過，不管在哪裏，櫻花從盛開到凋謝最多也就兩個星期，所以令人感歎，猶如生命的短暫。”
"It is in May, now in Canada; but 'Sa-Ku-Ra' known in Japan welcomes the spring much earlier in March or April, from southern areas first, it moves up north, whitening the land gradually to the north-end the latest.
