61. 渡荊門送別

 

李白

 

渡遠荊門外，

來從楚國遊。

山隨平野盡，

江入大荒流。

月下飛天鏡，

雲生結海樓。

仍憐故鄉水，

萬裏送行舟。

Friend At Jingmen Ferry

 

Li Bai

 

Sailing far
from outside Jingmen,

I come into
Chu for a journey.

Mounts end
where plains begin,

The river winds thru wild country.

A mirror
flying in the sky is the moon.

Clouds make a
mirage-like scenery.

I love the
water of my native town,

From far it
sends my boat to the ferry.

 

 

62. 送友人

 

李白

 

青山橫北郭，

白水繞東城。

此地一為別，

孤蓬萬裏征。

浮雲遊子意，

落日故人情。

揮手自茲去，

蕭蕭班馬鳴。

Farewell To A Friend

 

Li Bai

 

Green mounts
lie outside north outer city wall,

White water
winds the eastern part of the city.

You have to
leave me and go far away,

Like lonely
fleabane drifting ten thousand miles.

The floating
clouds present feelings of wandering sons,

The setting
sun presents old friends feeling sorry,

You wave hands
and leave by yourself,

I can only
hear your horse' whinny.

 

 

63. 夜泊牛渚懷古

 

李白

 

青天無片雲。

登舟望秋月，

空憶謝將軍。

餘亦能高詠，

斯人不可聞。

明朝掛帆席，

楓葉落紛紛。

Near Xijiang
River under Mt. Niuzhu at night,

There is not a
single cloud in the blue sky.

Embarking on
boat and looking at the autumn moon,

I began to
vainly recall General Xie and sigh.

Even I can
loudly chant my poems,

He can hear
nothing except for the wind high.

I'll hoist my
sail tomorrow morning,

With maple
leaves drifting far and wide.

 

 

64. 月夜

 

 

 

杜甫

 

今夜鄜州月，

閨中隻獨看。

遙憐小兒女，

未解憶長安。

香霧雲鬟濕，

清輝玉臂寒。

何時倚虛幌，

雙照淚痕幹。

 

 

Moonlit Night

 

Du Fu

 

 

The moon in
Fuzhou afar is bright tonight,

She is
watching at it from her chamber window alone.

Too young our
little kids are,

They don't
understand recalling Chang An.

The fragrant
mist makes her hair moisten,

Her white arms
are cold with moonlight.

When shall we
lean on the screen,

Letting
moonlight make our tears dry?

 

 

65. 春望

 

杜甫

 

國破山河在，

城春草木深。

感時花濺淚，

恨別鳥驚心。

烽火連三月，

家書抵萬金。

白頭搔更短，

渾欲不勝簪。

 

A Spring View

 

Du Fu

 

The country was ruined but hills and rivers still endure,

High grasses
and woods run riot in the city everywhere.

When moving, I
make flowers splashed with my tears,

When hating,
even birds make me chilled with fear.

War fire has
already been lasting for three months,

Ten thousand
pieces of gold a letter home is worth.

Being stroked,
my white hair became even shorter,

And the
hairpin cannot be held firm.

 

 

66. 月夜憶舍弟

 

杜甫

 

戍鼓斷人行，

邊秋一雁聲。

露從今夜白，

月是故鄉明。

有弟皆分散，

無家問死生。

寄書長不達，

況乃未休兵。

Garrison drums
stopped people from going，

At the border
in autumn a wild goose is calling.

Dews become
white from tonight,

The moon in my
native place is bright.

Widely
scattered, brothers cannot see each other,

No family
member ask about life or death.

Though mailed
out long ago, letters have not arrived,

Let alone wars
have not yet ended.

 

 

67. 旅夜書懷

 

杜甫

 

細草微風岸，

危檣獨夜舟。

星垂平野闊，

月湧大江流。

名豈文章著，

官應老病休。

飄飄何所似？

天地一沙鷗。

A breeze sways
the small grasses at the shore,

At night my
boat with a high mast lonely moors.

The fields are
vast and the stars hang down,

The moon comes
with the river running down.

If only my fame
can be won by my nice essays,

And my old
sick age can free me from office!

Flitting,
flitting, I look like what?

But a
sandpiper in the vast.

 

 

68. 登嶽陽樓

 

杜甫

 

昔聞洞庭水，

今上嶽陽樓。

吳楚東南坼，

乾坤日夜浮。

親朋無一字，

老病有孤舟。

戎馬關山北，

憑軒涕泗流。

Du

Lake
Dongting, I heard of it in the past,

Yueyang
Tower, I mounted it now at last.

Wu
is to east of me while Chu to north of me,

Heaven
and earth float day and night endlessly.

Not
a single word comes from friends or kin,

With
a lonely boat, old age makes me sicken.

In
area north of frontier wars are perpetual,

I
can hardly stop a stream of tear standing by the rail.

 

 

69. 賦得古草原送別

 

 

白居易

 

離離原上草，

一歲一枯榮。

野火燒不盡，

春風吹又生。

遠芳侵古道，

晴翠接荒城。

又送王孫去，

萋萋滿別情。

 

Bidding
On Ancient Grasslands

 

Bai Juyi

 

The vast plain
is full of grasses,

Once a year
they come and go.

No prairie
fire can destroy the grasses,

They shoots up
again with the spring breeze blowing.

The grasses
express the ancient road,

And reach the
desolate city.

O my prince
friend, send you off again,

Because of
your departure l couldn't help feeling sorry.

 

 

70. 早秋

 

許渾

 

遙夜泛清瑟，

西風生翠蘿。

殘螢棲玉露，

早雁拂金河。

高樹曉還密，

遠山晴更多。

淮南一葉下，

自覺洞庭波。

A harp lets
out a cold sound rippling in the long night,

West wind
blows over from the green vines.

Disabled
fireflies are perching on the crystal dews,

Early wild
geese skim over the Milky Way.

Tall trees
seem much denser at dawn,

Distant hills
appear much more under clear sky.

Finding a
leave falling in Huainan,

I feel autumn
comes to Lake Dongting.

黃鶴樓

 

崔顥

 

昔人已乘黃鶴去，

此地空餘黃鶴樓。

黃鶴一去不複返，

白雲千載空悠悠。

晴川曆曆漢陽樹，

芳草萋萋鸚鵡洲。

日暮鄉關何處是，

煙波江上使人愁。

Crane Tower

 

Cui Hao

 

Riding a yellow
crane the previous sage has gone forever,

Only Yellow Crane
Tower was left in here.

The yellow crane
has never come back since departure,

White clouds have
been vainly drifting for thousands of years.

Every tree in
Hanyang is clear along Hanjiang River,

Green grasses
overgrow on Parrot Island everywhere.

Twilight grows dark
and my home is in where?

I feel sad when
seeing waves on the misty river.

登金陵鳳凰台

 

李白

 

鳳凰台上鳳凰遊，

鳳去台空江自流。

吳宮花草埋幽徑，

晉代衣冠成古丘。

三山半落青天外，

二水中分白鷺洲。

總為浮雲能蔽日，

長安不見使人愁。

Phoenixes played on
The Phoenixes Terrace,

Phoenixes left with
the terrace empty and the river flows vainly.

Flowers and grasses
in Wu Palace buried the hide-way,

Garments and hats
of Jin dynasty became ancient graves.

The three peaks
partly go beyond the blue heaven,

The two rivers
divide White Egret Island from the middle.

Drifting clouds can
cover the sun,

I feel sad because
Chang An is invisible.

積雨輞川莊作

 

王維

 

積雨空林煙火遲，

蒸藜炊黍餉東菑。

漠漠水田飛白鷺，

陰陰夏木囀黃鸝。

山中習靜觀朝槿，

鬆下清齋折露葵。

野老與人爭席罷，

海鷗何事更相疑？

At Wangchuan Village After A Long Rain

 

Wang Wei

 

Sparse woods wet
with a long rain and cooking smoke rises late,

Vegetable and rice
are well prepared and sent to the eastern farmland.

White egrets fly
over misty paddy fields,

Yellow orioles cry
in green summer woods.

I learn to view
cotton roses in peace at dawn,

And after frugal
meal cut a sunflower with dews under a pine.

There is no
difference between villagers and me,

For what reason do
the sea gulls doubt about it?

丞相祠堂何處尋，

錦官城外柏森森。

映階碧草自春色，

隔葉黃鸝空好音。

三顧頻煩天下計，

兩朝開濟老臣心。

出師未捷身先死，

長使英雄淚滿襟。

temple of the premier?

Go to the lush pine
grove outside the City of Silk.

The green grasses
of spring color the steps,

The orioles happily
chirp under the leaves.

Three summons
weighted him with affairs of the state,

To the two
generations he gave his true heart.

He died before
victory was won,

With tears this
always makes heroes wet coats.

客至

 

杜甫

 

舍南舍北皆春水，

但見群鷗日日來。

花徑不曾緣客掃，

蓬門今始為君開。

盤飧市遠無兼味，

樽酒家貧隻舊醅。

肯與鄰翁相對飲？

隔籬呼取盡餘杯。

South of me, north
of me, spring water is everywhere,

I can see flocks of
gulls come every day.

Path full of petals
is swept not because of guests,

But I begin opening
my thatched gate for you today.

I've no varied
dishes because the market is far,

I've only old wine
because too poor I'm.

I'd like to drink
with my neighboring old man,

For bottles up,
through the fence I call him.

聞官軍收河南河北

 

杜甫

 

劍外忽傳收薊北，

初聞涕淚滿衣裳。

卻看妻子愁何在，

漫卷詩書喜欲狂。

白日放歌須縱酒，

青春作伴好還鄉。

即從巴峽穿巫峽，

便下襄陽向洛陽。

News comes suddenly
from outside Jianmen Pass the north has been recaptured,

At first I cannot
stop tears from pouring on my coat.

Turning over, I
find sad look vanished from faces of my wife and son,

Wild with joy, I
gather up my poems and books at random.

I should sing
loudly and have a hearty drink in the spring day,

The bright spring
accompanies me for returning home.

From Baxia Gorge
and thru Wuxia Gorge, I'll set off right away,

And pass Xiangyang
and go to Luoyang straight away.

登高

 

杜甫

 

風急天高猿嘯哀，

渚清沙白鳥飛回。

無邊落木蕭蕭下，

不盡長江滾滾來。

萬裏悲秋常作客，

百年多病獨登台。

艱難苦恨繁霜鬢，

潦倒新停濁酒杯。

The wind is strong
under the high sky with monkey crying sad,

Birds are hovering
above the island with clear water and white sand.

The boundless
falling leaves are drifting shower by shower;

The endless rolling
River is flowing waves upon waves.

Sadly facing the
autumn scenery, I'm sighing for my long drifting life.

Nearly eaten up
with diseases, today I come alone to climb up.

Having gone through
much suffering, I hate to have my hair whiten,

And frustration
recently forced me to put down my wine cup.

李商隱

 

昨夜星辰昨夜風，

畫樓西畔桂堂東。

身無彩鳳雙飛翼，

心有靈犀一點通。

隔座送鉤春酒暖，

分曹射覆蠟燈紅。

嗟餘聽鼓應官去，

走馬蘭台類轉蓬。

West to the Painted
Chamber and east to the Cinnamon Hall.

Have no wings to
fly side by side as colorful phoenixes,

Yet minds act upon
minds.

Dices are thrown
group by group and candle light is red.

Suddenly I am
called to listen to the drum and go to court,

I mount my horse
and ride away like a fleabane grass blown about.

盧綸

 

雲開遠見漢陽城，

猶是孤帆一日程。

估客晝眠知浪靜，

舟人夜語覺潮生。

三湘愁鬢逢秋色，

萬裏歸心對月明。

舊業已隨征戰盡，

更堪江上鼓鼙聲。

Clouds dispersed
and Hanyang City can be seen far off,

There is another
day's journey for my lone sail.

Sleeping in daytime
river-merchants should know waves being calm,

Talking at night
boat-men ought to realize tide rising up.

Thin hair goes
white like three branches of Xiangjiang River in autumn,

Anxious to return
from ten thousand miles away with the bright moon.

Former career has finished
with battles,

Have to suffer from
pang of hearing the drum sound on the river.

去年花裏逢君別，

今日花開己一年。

世事茫茫難自料，

春愁黯黯獨成眠。

身多疾病思田裏，

邑有流亡愧俸錢。

because there are exiles.

come, I'd like to ask you about it,

How many times on
the west tower I watch the moon goes round.
