【征文】《詩經》《楚辭》《樂府》選譯即將出版,文學城留痕

按:我的《詩經選譯》《楚辭選譯》《樂府選譯》即將出版。為在文學城留下紀念,現把《詩經》第一首‘關雎’發在這裏。

 

 

001 關雎

 

【原文】

 

關關雎鳩,在河之洲。

窈窕淑女,君子好逑。

參差荇菜,左右流之。

窈窕淑女,寤寐求之。

求之不得,寤寐思服。

悠哉悠哉,輾轉反側。

參差荇菜,左右采之。

窈窕淑女,琴瑟友之。

參差荇菜,左右芼之。

窈窕淑女,鍾鼓樂之。

 

【簡介】

 

此詩寫一個君子對淑女的追求,寫他得不到淑女時心裏苦惱,翻來覆去睡不著覺;為了得到了淑女就很開心,叫人奏起音樂來慶賀琴瑟、鍾鼓,並以此讓討得淑女快樂歡心。

 

Brief intro

 

This poem was written firstly about a gentleman who pursued a gentlewoman. He was so

anxious when he was failed to get her that, tossing and turning, he could hardly sleep. But after

getting this her, he was so delighted that he invited many musicians to play music to celebrate

his victory. And by doing this way, he also wanted to make his lover happy and gay.

 

【注釋】

 

1. 關關:象聲詞,雌雄二鳥相互應和的叫聲。

2. 雎鳩(音居糾):一種水鳥名,即王鴡(音居)。

3. 洲:水中的陸地。

4. 窈窕(音咬、挑第三聲)淑女:賢良美好的女子。

5. 好逑(音好第三聲、求):好的配偶。逑,匹配。

6. 荇(音性)菜:水草類植物。圓葉細莖,根生水底,葉浮在水麵,可供食用。

7. 左右流之:時而向左、時而向右地擇取荇菜。

8. 寤寐(音物妹):醒和睡。指日夜。寤,醒覺。寐,入睡。

9. 琴瑟友之:彈琴鼓瑟來親近她。

10. 芼(音冒):擇取,挑選。

關關鳴春鳩鳥,落在河中洲島。

女郎文靜秀麗,君子求結情侶。

長短不齊荇菜,女郎左摘右采。

文靜秀麗女郎,令人朝思暮想。

追求未能如願,日夜渴慕思念。

愛慕思念綿綿,翻翻覆覆難眠。

長短不齊荇菜,女郎左摘右采。

女郎秀麗文靜,求愛琴瑟傳情。

長短不齊荇菜,女郎左右摘采。

女郎秀麗姣好,鍾鼓齊鳴歡笑。

Ospreyschirp: guan guan,

Song o’ chirpin’ ospreys;

Echoes a small islet: guan guan,

A small islet echoin’ ospreys.

 

A lass so beautiful,

So beautiful a lass;

A lad chases after a lass;

Alass is chased after by a lad.

 

Long an’ short,

Duckweeds are flourishing;

Left to right,

Duckweeds are floating.

 

A lass so pretty,

So pretty a lass;

All day alass is chase’ after by a lad;

Alad chases after a lass all day.

 

Faile’ to get wish

Wid nothing to say;

Wid nothing to say

Upset night an’ day.

 

Restrain an’ free,

Free an’ restrain;

Turn an’ roll,

Roll an’ turn.

 

Long an’ short,

Duckweeds are flourishing;

Left to right,

A lass is busily collecting.

 

A lass so graceful,

So graceful a lass;

She is happy wid music,

Music makes her happy.
