泰戈爾《迷途鳥》即將出版再複譯

按：印度大文豪泰戈爾的Stary Birds （傳統譯為飛鳥集），我做了複譯，書名改為《迷途之鳥》，不日即將出版，因此已無法修改。近日突發靈感，又做了補譯，增加了韻體版本，即文中的【韻譯】。昨天有朋友想看，我便把剛剛完成的70首發給了他。剛才又想，何不發在文學城？我知道，征文活動已經是最後一天，無論發什麽稿件，獲獎機會幾乎等於零。我已經發了好幾篇，這篇也許是最後一篇了。我對獲獎不抱任何希望，我的態度一直是重在參與，因此決定把這部分新譯稿發在這裏，是名符其實的剛剛出爐，還冒熱氣呢。哈哈。我現在發表在這裏，對我這部新書稿會有特殊意義，即，將來出版時，我會在序言裏寫上最初發表在《文學城》上，留下永恒的紀念。我的譯稿從書名到具體內容，有不少都是和傳統依法不同的，故而曾被專家說是“和名人叫板”，這個名人就是鄭振鐸。我在序言裏已經做了申辯和反駁。也因此煩請讀者諒解。最後當然是衷心地希望獲城裏朋友的慷慨賜教，拜謝啦！

蒞臨我窗前；

婉轉歌一首，

欲唱卻無歌；

無奈空歎息，

【譯感】

 

鳥兒啊，懵懵懂懂因何故？春盡花稀時已違；花枝不是久棲處，應向長空展翅飛。

 

葉兒啊，你默默無聞，慷慨奉獻。你的功績，超越春夏秋冬。你無須歎息，縱使悄然無聲碾作塵，依舊功高蓋世應無悔。

 

O birds, why are you so muddled? You’ve missed the season for spring has ended, nearly flowerless. Yet sprays are not where you should stay. You should spread your wings and fly into the sky.

 

O leaves, you are unknown to fame; you generously contribute what you have. Your meritorious deeds surmount spring, summer, autumn and winter! It is unnecessary for you to give a sigh. Even you are quietly crushed into dust, your great contributions are still unique throughout the world, for which you should not regret.

O Troupe of little vagrants of the world, leave your footprints in my words.

世上渺小的漂泊者呀，成群結隊，把你們的足跡留在我的文字裏吧。

人物雖小，決非一般；萬眾一心，力大無邊。

 

potatoes are absolutely unusual. They, so long as millions unite as one, would become most powerful.

 

 

3．

 

The world puts off its mask of vastness to its lover.

It becomes small as one song, as one kiss of the eternal.

 

【散譯】

 

世界麵對自己的心上人，把它那浩瀚無垠的麵具扯下。　　　　　　　　　　　　

它變小了，小如一支歌，小如一次永恒的吻。　　　　　　　　　　　

 

【韻譯·五絕】

 

繾倦世情深，

麵對心上人；

毅然扯麵具，

浩瀚且無垠。

 

伊人漸變小，

儼然似歌聲；

小如一次吻，

悠然到永恒。

 

【譯感】

 

扯下麵具隻能露出真容，真容有時未必代表真心。麵善心狠者有之，麵醜心善者亦有之。

 

Tearing off mask could only uncover true face. But sometimes true face unnecessarily reflects true heart. There exist either those who look kind but vicious in the heart or those who are kind in the heart but look ugly.

是大地的淚滴，使她笑靨藏花，永不憔悴。

鮮花蘸露尤美麗，笑臉沾淚更動人。

 

Fresh flowers with dew are more beautiful; smiling faces with tears are more touching.

The mighty desert is burning for the love of a blade of grass which shakes her head and laughs and flies away.

廣袤的沙漠，為一草之愛，燃起熊熊烈焰，而她卻搖搖頭，笑一笑，飛走了。

黃沙惜草情深切，

化作熊熊烈焰燒；

伊人不解搖頭去，

百媚翻飛因一笑。

愛來臨時，不要輕易說不，如果慎重對待，說不定你會愛上他。　　　　　　　　　　　　

 

Do not say no lightly whenever love comes. Treat it cautiously, maybe you could love him.

If you shed tears when you miss the sun, you also miss the stars.

 

【散譯】

 

你思念太陽的時候流淚，那你也會思念群星。

常常思太陽，

淚水漣漣沾衣裳，

念星情亦長。

 

【譯感】

 

含淚的思念是真誠的。真誠的思念是苦澀的，也是甜蜜的。

 

Missing with tears is to be sincere. Sincerely missing is bitter but also sweet.

The sands in your way beg for your song and your movement, dancing water. Will you carry the burden of their lameness?

 

【散譯】

 

舞動的流水呀，你途中的泥沙，在懇求你的歌聲和律動。你肯承擔跛足的重負嗎？

舞動流水可曾知？

途中泥沙心忒癡；

求你歌聲及韻律，

跛足重負肯擔持？

 

【譯感】

 

為他人唱首歌是容易的，為他人提供幫助是困難的，與弱者攜手並進更是難上加難。

 

It is easy to sing a song for others but difficult to provide help to others. Advancing hand in hand with the weak is much more difficult.

Her wishful face haunts my dreams like the rain at night.

 

【散譯】

 

她那不無期盼的麵龐，猶如夜雨，時常令我魂牽夢縈。

伊人笑靨獨鍾情，

殷殷期盼常轉空；

夜雨綿綿憂思重，

魂牽夢縈睡不成。

 

【譯感】

 

夜雨如歌，令人心動。　

 

Night rain is like a song. It makes people excited.

Once we dreamt that we were strangers.

We wake up to find that we were dear to each other.

你我曾在夢鄉中形同陌路。

現在清醒時卻發現你我相親相愛。

 

【韻譯·俳句】

 

纏綿你我情，

曾經常入幽幽夢，

今似陌路中。

 

如今已醒悟，

發現你我情如故，

情深且意篤。

 

【譯感】

 

夢想與現實有時是水火不容的怨偶，有時是心心相印的情侶。

Sorrow is hushed into peace in my heart like the evening among the silent trees.

憂傷在我的心中歸於寧靜，宛如暮色融入寂靜的林間。

若霧飄飄入林晚，

暮色蒼茫靜無聲。

 

【譯感】

 

憂傷不在心中寧靜，就在心中發狂。但願憂傷不要沉渣泛起，如此便可以享受明媚的晨光了。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　

 

If sorrow is not hushed into peace in the heart, it will go mad in the heart. If only the dregs of sorrow won’t come to the surface. Thus, we could enjoy the morning light in all its brightness and charm.

Some unseen fingers, like an idle breeze, are playing upon my heart the music of the ripples.

無形的手指，宛若一縷閑適的微風，撥動我的心弦，奏響漣漪般的樂章。

無形手指閑借風，

悠然一縷釀鍾情；

撥動心弦泛漣漪，

妙曲繚繞入晴空。

 

 

【譯感】

 

心聲不定，有愛則為美樂，無愛則為噪音。

What language is thine, O sea?

The language of eternal question.

What language is thy answer, O sky?

The language of eternal silence.

大海呀，你在述說什麽？

在述說那永恒的話題。

天空啊，你在回答什麽？

在回答那永恒的沉寂。

大海述說說盡永恒話題；

天空回答答盡永恒沉寂。

 

 

【譯感】

 

大海沉默之日，便是世界末日來臨之時。

 

The day for the sea to becomes quiet is the time for the world to meet its doom.

Listen, my heart, to the whispers of the world with which it makes love to you.

聽呀，我的心兒，諦聽那世界的低語，它正是以此對你示愛。

傾訴愛的聲音越輕，往往更加真誠凝重。

 

As for the voice of love revealing, the lighter it is, the more honest and sincere it usually is.

Delusions of knowledge are like the fog of the morning.

探索神秘 玄妙猶如夜之幽暗氣勢雄渾；

創造知識 精深宛若晨之霧靄情懷磅礴。

 

 

【譯感】

 

黑暗孕育光明，黑暗也吞噬光明。白天是黑夜的希望，黑夜是白天的歸宿。白天在黑夜中產生，白天也在黑夜中消亡。

 

The darkness is pregnant with the light and the darkness also swallows the light. The day is the hope of the night and the night is the termination of the day. The day is born in the night and the day also dies out in the night.

Do not seat your love upon a precipice because it is high.

切莫因峭壁高聳入雲，讓愛安坐其上。

 

【韻譯·俳句】

 

峭壁入雲端，

切莫因此心煩亂，

令愛坐其間。

 

【譯感】

 

愛情的價值不在於高位，而在於堅貞。

 

The value of love lies in faithfulness and unyieldingness instead of high position.

I sit at my window this morning where the world like a passer-by stops for a moment, nods to me and goes.

 

【散譯】

 

今晨我坐在窗前，世界猶如一位路人，在這兒停留片刻，向我點點頭，走了。

今晨靜靜窗前坐，

世如路人情何堪？

僅僅在此停片刻，

點頭向我走天邊。

 

【譯感】

 

我們在世界之窗前也都是匆匆過客。

 

We are also passers-by in hast before the window of the world.

There little thoughts are the rustle of leaves; they have their whisper of joy in my mind.

幽思縷縷，是葉在那兒沙沙作響；它們潛入我心，竊竊私語，樂不可支。

縷縷幽思若雲煙，

沙沙作響傳葉言；

潛入我心輕如許，

竊竊私語樂無邊。

 

【譯感】

 

幽思縷縷，宛如花氣，令人陶醉； 縷縷幽思，宛如朝露，令人振奮。　　

　　　　　

Little thoughts are like flower breath making us intoxicated. Little thoughts are like morning dews making us encouraged.

What you are you do not see, what you see is your shadow.

你是什麽樣子，自己無法看到，你看到的，隻是自己的影子。

你是啥模樣，

自己咋能看？

如若能見到，

鏡中之影，清晰可人，但卻是虛的；鏡中之影，亮麗迷人，但卻是反的。　　　　　

 

The image in mirror is clear and pleasant but it is visionary; the image in mirror is beautiful and amazing but it is reversed.

Let me but listen.

神啊，我的願望多麽愚蠢，它們大呼小叫，穿越你的歌聲。

吾願多迂腐，

小叫又大呼；

穿越你歌聲，

洗耳聽清楚。

 

【譯感】

 

洗耳恭聽才能聽得清；洗耳靜聽才能聽得真。

 

Only listening with great attention can make you hear something clearly; only listening with great attention can make you hear something true.

I cannot choose the best.

The best chooses me.

是最佳來選擇我。

選擇如若求最佳，

無法令我心怕怕；

若令最佳選擇我，

兩全其美傳佳話。

我無法摒棄最差，是最差來摒棄我。

 

I cannot discard the worst. The worst discards me.

They throw their shadows before them who carry their lantern on their back.

背燈人把自己的影子投到自己的麵前。

背燈失心智，

投影不自知；

身前黑憧憧，

自身影一隻。

 

【譯感】

 

隻要心中有盞燈，夢鄉裏就是一片光明。　　　　　　　　　　　　　

 

So long as there is a lamp in the heart, it would be bight in the dream.

That I exist is a perpetual surprise which is life.

 

【散譯】

 

我的存在，是一個永恒的奇跡，這一奇跡就是生命。　　　　　　　　　　

 

【韻譯·俳句】

 

隻因我存在，

奇跡如花開不敗，

命泉滾滾來。

 

【譯感】

 

肉身無論強弱，一定不能常在，靈魂不分美醜，並非都能永存。隻有美到完滿，醜到極致，方能在世人心中永存。

 

Body, whether it is strong or weak, won’t be everlasting; soul, whether it is beautiful or ugly, won’t be able to exist for ever. Only the beauty coming to the pinnacle and the ugliness reaching the climax can exist in the hearts of the people forever.

We, the rustling leaves, have a voice that answers the storms, but who are you so silent?"

I am a mere flower.

我們，這些颯颯如吟的葉兒，都有一種應答風雨的聲音。可如此沉默的你，究竟是誰呢?

我如綠葉颯颯吟，

風歌雨唱作和音；

若問沉默誰是我，

小花一朵香在心。

 

【譯感】

 

葉，隻要有一絲風，就會洋洋得意，但隻能發出空洞的響聲，花，總是悄然無聲，卻能散發迷人的芳香。

 

Leaves, they are always cock-a-hoop so long as there is a breath of air, but they can only give out empty sound; flowers, they are always quiet, but they send forth charming fragrance all the time.　　　　　　　　　　　　　

 

 

24．

 

Rest belongs to the work as the eyelids to the eyes.

 

【散譯】

 

休憩之於工作，恰如眼瞼之於眼睛。　　　　　　　　　　　　

 

【韻譯·五絕】

 

休憩與工作，

關聯妙難說；

眼瞼與雙眼，

關係差不多。

 

【譯感】

 

眼瞼之於眼睛，猶如雙唇之於牙齒。瞼破眼傷，唇亡齒寒，一理也。

 

The eyelids belong to the eyes as the lips to the teeth. When the eyelids are broken, the eyes will be wounded, like when the lips are gone, the teeth will be exposed to the cold. These two cases are as like as two peas.

Man is a born child, his power is the power of growth.

 

【散譯】

 

人，天生就是一介頑童，他的力量就是成長的力量。

 

【韻譯·五絕】

 

人生如頑童，

力量大無窮； 

成長需力量，

二者成一統。

 

【譯感】

 

童言無忌，童心不泯，是其力量之所在。

 

Children and fools speak the truth. One should always retain childlike innocence. These two points are where the children’s power lies.

God expects answers for the flowers he sends us, not for the sun the earth.

 

【散譯】

 

神賜予我們花，但他並不期盼我們為此而酬答，他期待我們為太陽和大地而酬答。

神已慷慨恩賜花，

不期吾輩作酬答；

若要酬答也無妨，

隻要我們懷有一顆感恩的心，就會發現世界上有無數美好的東西可供我們享受。

 

So long as we have a sense of being grateful for kindness, we would find countless good things in the world for us to enjoy.

The light that plays, like a naked child, among the green leaves happily knows not that man can lie.

光，猶如一介裸童，在綠葉間嬉笑玩耍；殊不知，人，居然可以撒謊。

光如一裸童，

嬉笑綠葉中；

不知人性惡，

撒謊情獨鍾。

Cheating childlike innocence cannot be tolerated.

O Beauty, find thyself in love, not in the flattery of thy mirror.

 

【散譯】

 

啊，美呀，到愛中去判斷你自己吧，不要到你鏡子的阿諛中去判斷。

 

【韻譯·七絕】

 

判斷美醜需公正，

愛中方能說了算；

勿入自家鏡子中，

阿諛奉承方寸亂。

 

【譯感】

 

美，在大愛中淨化；美，在阿諛中失真。

 

Beauty, it gets to be purified in love; beauty, it gets to be untrue in flattery.

My heart beats her waves at the shore of the world and writes upon it her signature in tears with the words, "I love thee."

我的心啊，在大千世界的海岸上波濤洶湧，放情激蕩；我的心啊，在那上邊揮淚題記：“我愛你。”

大千世界海岸上

波濤洶湧心激蕩；

我心在此揮淚記，

化作一語我愛你。

和著淚的愛是最甜美的。

 

The love mixed with tears is the sweetest and most beautiful one.

Moon, for what do you wait?

To salute the sun for whom I must make way.

月兒呀，你在等待什麽？

等待向我必須為之讓路的太陽致敬。

借問明月待何物？

等我致敬謝太陽；

我若看見太陽到，

忙把道路來相讓。

 

【譯感】

 

我站在窗前，仰望明月。我們心照不宣：月亮知道我想飛上天空，我知道月亮想來到地上。

 

I stand in front of the window and look up at the bright moon. We have a tacit understanding: the moon knows I want to fly up into the sky and I know the moon wants to come down onto the ground.

The trees come up to my window like the yearning voice of the dumb earth.

綠樹拔地而起，與我的窗兒比肩而立，仿佛是無言的大地，在發出渴望的聲音。

似是無言地，

渴望發信息。

His own mornings are new surprises to God.

神自己的清晨，對他自己也是新奇的。

各有各清晨，

神不例外無需論，

對己也清新。

新奇之心乃進取之心，二心兼備，活力無窮。

 

The sense of curiosity is the enterprising spirit. Having both, one would get unlimited energy.

Life finds its wealth by the claims of the world, and its worth by the claims of love.

 

【散譯】

 

生命因物質需求而變得優裕富有，因愛情需求而變得價值連城。　

 

【韻譯·楹聯】

 

生命因物質需求而變得優裕富有；

生命因愛情需求而變得價值連城。

 

【譯感】

 

物質誠可貴，愛情價更高。若為愛情故，物質實可拋。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　

 

Materials are really precious but love is more valuable. If only for the sake of love, all materials could be abandoned.

The dry river-bed finds no thanks for its past.

河床雖幹涸，

感激往事激情多，

句句難言說。

回憶往事，不如放眼未來。

 

Recalling the past is no better than keeping the future in view.

【譯感】

 

鳥就是鳥，雲就是雲。空想換位，隻是浪漫的幻想。浪漫的幻想，不如樸素的現實。樸素的現實最珍貴，做好自己最重要。

 

Bird is bird. Cloud is cloud. Vainly hoping to change position is only romantically fancying. Romantic fancy is no better than simple reality. Simple reality is most precious. It is of greatest importance to be a nice self.

The waterfall sings, "I find my song, when I find my freedom."

瀑布唱道：“我發現自由的時候，也發現了歌。”

瀑布唱著說：

發現自由發現歌，

我的功勞多。

自由是打開一切樊籠的鑰匙。

I cannot tell why this heart languishes in silence.

It is for small needs it never asks, or knows or remembers.

我說不出這顆心何以在默默地衰竭。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　

這是因為那些從未提出，從未知曉，從未記起的小小的需要。

心事重重道不出，

衰竭何以難停步？　　　　　　　　　　　　

皆因需求未記起，

險莫大於心衰，哀莫大於心死。心衰竭了，死亡也就不遠了。

 

Nothing is more dangerous than heart failure. Nothing is more sorrowful than heart death. If heart failure has come into being, death is not far off.

Woman, when you move about in your household service your limbs sing like a hill stream among its pebbles.

婦人，你在為料理家務而忙來忙去時，你的手足在歌唱，宛如一條山溪在小石間流淌。

婦人料理家務忙，

Big or small, so long as you have something to so, it is your blessedness.
