Chapter 16 Monkey King borrow palm fan second time


1．

土地說：“大力王即牛魔王也。”
行者道：“這山本是牛魔王放的火，假名火焰山？”
土地道：“不是不是，大聖若肯赦小神之罪，方敢直言。”
行者道：“你有何罪？直說無妨。”
土地道：“這火原是大聖放的。”
行者怒道：“我在那裏，你這等亂談！我可是放火之輩？”
土地道：“是你也認不得我了。此間原無這座山，因大聖五百年前大鬧天宮時，大聖被安於八卦爐內，被你蹬倒丹爐，落了幾個磚來，內有餘火，到此處化為火焰山。我本是守爐的道人，當被老君怪我失守，降下此間，就做了火焰山土地也。”

“Hercules is the Ox Devil King,” said the village god.
“He set the fire and then named the mountain Flame Mountain?” asked
Monkey King.
“No,” said the village god. “Only when you forgive me, do I dare to
tell you the truth.”
“Forgive you for what?” asked Monkey King. “Just speak out.”
“The fire was set by you.” replied the village god.
“Nonsense!” angrily cried out Monkey Kong. “Where I was then? I look
like an arsonist?”
“You can’t recognize me?” asked the village god. “This mountain didn’
t exist before. Five hundred years ago in the heaven, you were put into the
oven. One day, you kicked the oven overturned. Several bricks with flames
fell down onto the earth and then turned into this Flame Mountain.” The
god said continuously. “As a special god to look after the oven, I was
severely punished on a charge of neglecting my duty. I was sent here in
exile to be the village god of the area of Flame Mountain.”


行者道：“原來如此，你且說，早尋大力王何故？”
土地道：“大力王乃鐵扇公主的丈夫。他這向撇了妻子，現在積雷山摩雲洞。有個萬歲狐王，那狐王死了，遺下一個女兒，叫做玉麵公主。那公主有百萬家私，無人掌管，二年前，訪著牛魔王神通廣大，情願倒陪家私，招贅為夫。那牛王棄了鐵扇公主，和新婦同居一處，久不回顧。若大聖尋著牛王，拜求來此，幫你去借，方借得真扇。”
行者道：“積雷山坐落何處？到彼有多少程途？”
土地道：“在正南方。此間到彼，有三千餘裏。”
行者聞言，即吩咐沙僧、八戒保護師父，隨即忽的一聲，渺然不見。

“So that’s how things stand,” said Monkey King. “Just now, you said I
should go ask help from Ox Devil King. Why?”
“Ox Devil King is Iron Fan Princess’s husband,” said the village god. “
But he deserted his wife and now lives in Moyun Cave of Jilei Mountain.
There was once a Fox King. He had only a daughter named Jade Face Princess.
After his death, a lot of property was left. The princess wanted to find a
capable man to manage the property for her. Two years ago, she heard that
Ox Devil King was very capable. Before long, the princess married Ox Devil
King. Ox Devil King left Iron Fan Princess and lives together with his new
wife in Moyun Cave. From then on, he’s never been back to Iron Fan
Princess. If you can ask Ox Devil King to come back here to help you borrow
the fan from Iron Fan Princess, you’ll be successful.”
“Where is Jilei Mountain?” asked Monkey King. “How far from here?”
“Due south,” said the village god. “More than three thousand miles.”
Monkey King told Pig Bajie and Sha Monk to take a good care of Tang Monk
and then turned a somersault and disappeared immediately.


2．

大聖來到一座高山前，見到一位美女。
大聖問道：“女菩薩何往？”
那女子見大聖的相貌醜陋，老大心驚，欲退難退，欲行難行，隻得戰兢兢，勉強作答。
隻聽他問道：“你是何方來者？敢在此間問誰？”
大聖道：“我是翠雲山芭蕉洞鐵扇公主央來請牛魔王的。”
那女子一聽鐵扇公主請牛魔王之言，心中大怒，徹耳根子通紅。
他潑口罵道：“這賤婢，著實無知！牛王自到我家，未及二載，也不知送了他多少珠翠金銀，綾羅緞匹。年供柴，月供米，自自在在受用，還不識羞，又來請他怎的！”
大聖聞言，情知是玉麵公主，故意子掣出鐵棒大喝一聲道：“你這潑賤，將家私買住牛王，誠然是陪錢嫁漢！你倒不羞，卻敢罵他夫人！”
大聖不住地罵，還假裝抽出金箍棒上前去打。那女子見了，又羞又怕，回頭便走。這大聖隨後相跟，見女子跑進一個洞，撲的把門關了。大聖無法進去，隻好待機行事。

Monkey King came to a mountain and saw a beautiful woman.
“Where are you going, Miss?” Monkey King asked.
Seeing the ugly face of Monkey King, the woman was startled. But finding
that she was on the horns of a dilemma, she had to put in a word.
“Where do you come from?” she asked. “How can you have the courage to question me?”
“I came from Iron Fan Princess,” replied Monkey King. “She sends me
here to invite Ox Devil King.”
On his words, the woman flew into a rage with her face flushed.
“What a shameless woman!” she abused. “I’ve given her innumerable gold
and jewelries ever since Ox Devil King came here. Besides, I also supply
fire-wood and food for her all the year round. She’s short of nothing. Why
does she invite Ox Devil King?”
Monkey King knew she was Jade Face Princess, but he pretended not to know
and drew out his golden cudgel.
“You shameless woman!” cried Monkey King. “You spent so many things to
marry Ox Devil King. Really a losing business! It’s surprising that you don’t feel ashamed and have the cheek to abuse his wife!”
Showering down a torrent of abuse on the woman, Monkey King then pretended
to strike her with his golden cudgel. Scared and ashamed, she run away.
Closely following her, Monkey King found her entering a cave. The door was
closed. Monkey King couldn’t go in and had to wait for an opportunity to
act on his discretion.


3.

那女子徑入書房裏麵，直奔牛魔王。那怪正在那裏靜玩丹書。這女子沒好氣倒在懷裏，放聲大哭。
牛王道：“美人，休得煩惱。有甚話說？”
那女子罵道：“潑魔害殺我也！”
牛王道：“你為甚事罵我？”
女子道：“適才我在洞外，忽見有一個毛臉雷公嘴的和尚，說是鐵扇公主央他來請牛魔王的。被我說了兩句，他倒罵了我一場，將一根棍子，趕著我打。若不是走得快些，幾乎被他打死！”
牛王聞言，溫存良久道：“美人在上，我山妻自幼修持，也是個得道的女仙，卻是家門嚴謹，內無一尺之童，焉得有雷公嘴的男子在洞中，這想是那裏來的怪妖。等我出去看看。”
好魔王出門高叫道：“是誰人在我這裏無狀？”
行者在旁，見他那模樣，與五百年前又大不同。

After entering a study, the woman came directly to Ox Devil King who was
playing with antiques. Throwing herself into his arms, she cried
sorrowfully.
“What’s wrong with you?” smilingly asked Ox Devil King. “Don’t be
worried. Just speak out.”
“Damn!” abused the woman. “You did so much harm to me!”
“Why do you abuse me?” He asked.
“Just now, I met with an ugly man. He said he was sent here by Iron Fan
Princess to invite you.” The woman said. “I abused him and he wanted to
strike me with a golden cudgel. If I’d failed to ran away quickly, I would
have been killed by him.”
Comforting her with sweet words, Ox Devil King said, “My ex-wife is a
decent woman. There is not even a single boy in her cave. How could she
allow a man to stay in her cave? This one must be a demon! Let me go out
and have a look.”
Going out of the cave, Ox Devil King asked, “Who is making trouble here?”
Monkey King found this Ox Devil King quite different from the one five
hundred years ago.



這大聖整衣上前，深深的唱個大喏道：“長兄，還認得小弟麽？”
牛王答禮道：“你是齊天大聖孫悟空麽？”
大聖道：“正是，正是，一向久別未拜。適才到此問一女子，方得見兄，豐采果勝常，真可賀也！”
牛王喝道：“且休巧舌！我聞你鬧了天宮，被佛祖降壓在五行山下，近解脫天災，保護唐僧西天見佛求經，怎麽在號山把我小兒牛聖嬰害了？正在這裏惱你，你卻怎麽又來尋我？”
大聖作禮道：“長兄勿得誤怪小弟。當時令郎捉住吾師，要食其肉，小弟近他不得，幸觀音菩薩欲救我師，勸他歸正。現今做了善財童子，比兄長還高，享極樂之門堂，受逍遙之永壽，有何不可，返怪我耶？”
牛王罵道：“這個乖嘴的猢猻！就算我錯怪了你，可你才欺我愛妾，打上我門何也？”
大聖笑道：“我因拜謁長兄不見，向那女子拜問，不知就是二嫂嫂。因他罵了我幾句，是小弟一時粗鹵，驚了嫂嫂。望長兄寬恕寬恕！”
牛王道：“既如此說，我看故舊之情，饒你去罷。”
大聖道：“既蒙寬恩，感謝不盡，但尚有一事奉瀆，萬望周濟周濟。”
牛王罵道：“這猢猻不識起倒！饒了你，倒還不走，反來纏我！什麽周濟周濟！”

Stepping up, Monkey King asked politely, “Brother! Can’t recognize me?”
Ox Devil King replied, “You’re Sun Wukong?”
“Yes, I am,” said Monkey King. “I met a beautiful girl just now and
asked her the way, and therefore I can see you here. Long time no see. You
look much better than before. It really merits congratulations!”
“Don’t talk clever stuff. Fine words butter no parsnips,” said Ox Devil
King. “I heard you made a lot of troubles and put the heavenly palace into
an awful mess and therefore the Buddha Father made you weighed down by Mt.
Wuxing. Later on, you were free from the natural disaster and escorted Tang
Monk going westwards to take Buddhist ures. But why did you harm tos my
son in Haoshan Mountain? I’ve been looking for opportunities to settle old
scores. It’s surprising that you walk into the trap on your own accord.”
“Brother,” Monkey King said politely. “You’ve got it wrong. It’s his
fault. I’m not to blame. Your son caught my master and got ready to eat
his flesh. I couldn’t draw close to him. Thanks to Goddess of Mercy. She
rescued my master and persuaded your son into giving up evil ways and
returning to the right path.” Monkey King added, “Your son has become a
kind good boy. He is now much taller than you. Goddess of Mercy let him
enjoy happiness and longevity. So you see, there’s no reason at all for
you to blame me!”
“You naughty monkey!” Ox Devil King said. “You really have a slick
tongue! Granted I wronged you, you should not bully my beloved concubine.”
“I found no way to see you,” smilingly said Monkey King, “so I had to
ask the way froms the lady. But I really didn’t know that she is my second
sister-in-law. Because she abused me, I got a little bit angry and took a
rash act and scared my sister-in-law. I beg your pardon.”
“In view of our brotherhood in the past,” said Ox Devil King, “I
forgive you this time. You can go now.”
“Thank you very much,” said Monkey King. “But I have a request to make
of you.”
“You wild monkey!” cried Ox Devil King. “You really don’t know how to
appreciate favors. I forgive you. You not only refuse to leave but also
badger me. What can I do for you?”




大聖說他向鐵扇公主借芭蕉扇遭拒，想請牛王勸說她把扇借他一用。
牛王聞言，心如火發。
那怪罵道：“你說你不無禮，你原來是借扇之故！一定先欺我山妻，山妻想是不肯，故來尋我！且又趕我愛妾！”
大聖道：“不對，不對，你誤解了我也。”
牛王道：“我從不誤解他人。別廢話！咱倆比試比試。”
大聖道：“說實話，要說打，弟也不懼，但此次我來求寶扇，是我真心，萬乞借我使使！”
牛王道：“你若三合敵得我，我著山妻借你；如敵不過，打死你，與我雪恨！”
大聖道：“哥說得是，小弟這一向疏懶，不曾與兄相會，不知這幾年武藝比昔日如何，我兄弟們請演演棍看。”
這牛王那容分說，掣混鐵棍劈頭就打。這大聖持金箍棒，隨手相迎。

Saying that he went to Iron Fan Princess to borrow her fan but she
refused, Monkey King asked Ox Devil King to go with him to persuade Iron
Fan Princess into lending the fan to him.
On Monkey King’s words, Ox Devil King flew into a rage.
“So that’s how things stand!” said Ox Devil King. “I think that you
must have cheated my ex-wife first, so she didn’t lend her fan to you, and
therefore you came here to ask me for help. But you hatched a plot against
my beloved concubine.”
“No, no, no,” said Monkey King. “You’ve misunderstood me!”
“I’ve never misunderstood anyone!” cried Ox Devil King. “Don’t talk
nonsense! Let me fight you.”
“Speak from the bottom of my heart,” Said Monkey King, “if you fight
me, I’m certainly not afraid of you. But this time I come here not for
fighting with anyone but for borrowing your fan. Please help me!”
“If you can still match me after three rounds,” said Ox Devil King, “I’
ll let my ex-wife lend her fan to you. Otherwise, I’ll kill you to avenge
myself on you!”
“All right,” said Monkey King. “But long time no see, I don’t know
whether you’ve made much progress or not. I just want to have a look.
Let’s have a contest!”
Allowing of no further talk, Ox Devil King launched an attack on Monkey
King with his treasured stick, while Monkey King fought back mercilessly.




4.

這大聖與那牛王鬥經百十回合，不分勝負。正在難解難分之際，隻聽得山峰上有人叫。
那人喊道：“牛爺爺，我大王多多拜上，幸賜早臨，好安座也。”
牛王聞說叫道：“猢猻，你且住了，等我去一個朋友家赴會來者！”
言畢，按下雲頭，徑至洞裏。
大聖在高峰上看著那洞，心中暗想跟著牛王，倒要看他去會什麽朋友。
這老牛片刻之後走出洞來。行者將身幌一幌，變作一陣清風趕上，隨著同走。
不多時，他們到了一座山中，那牛王寂然不見。大聖聚了原身，入山尋看，那山中有一麵清水深潭。
大聖暗想：“老牛斷然下水去了。水底之精，若不是蛟精，必是龍精魚精，或是龜鱉黿鼉之精，等老孫也下去看看。”

Nearly a hundred rounds later, it was still difficult to decide which side
would win. Just at the moment neither side would give in, some one called
Ox Devil King on a peak.
“Ox Devil King,” the man cried. “My master hopes you could come early
so that for us to make a good arrangement.”
“All right,” Ox Devil King replied and then stopped fighting and said to
Monkey King, “Let’s stop fighting for the time being. I’ll go visit my
friend.”
Finishing his words, Ox Devil King went into his cave. Standing on a rock,
Monkey King closely watched the cave. He was going to follow Ox Devil King
so as to find out what sort of friends the demon was going to meet.
A few minutes later, Ox Devil King came out. Monkey King turned himself
into a gust of wind and followed the ox demon closely.
They came into a big mountain before long. But the ox demon disappeared in
the twinkling of an eye. Coming into his true colors, Monkey King looked
for the demon and at last he found a water pool.
“The demon must have entered the water,” Monkey King thought. “The
spirits under water are nothing more than dragons, fishes, turtles and so
on. Let me go down and have a look.”




好大聖，搖身一變，變作一個螃蟹，不大不小的，有三十六斤重，撲的跳在水中，徑沉潭底。忽見一座玲瓏剔透的牌樓，樓下拴著那個辟水金睛獸，進牌樓裏麵，卻就沒水。大聖爬進去，仔細看時，隻見那壁廂老龍精招待賓客官員。
那上麵坐的是牛魔王，正老龍精在那裏觥籌交錯。老龍看到大蟹高聲喊道：“拿下那個野蟹來！”
大蟹被捉，忽作人言，隻叫：“饒命，饒命！”
老龍道：“你是那裏來的野蟹？怎麽敢上廳堂，在尊客之前，橫行亂走？快早供來，免汝死罪！”
好大聖道：“我本生在泥草中，從來未習行儀。不知法度冒犯王威，伏望尊慈恕罪！
座上眾精聞言，都為螃蟹向老龍求情。
老龍對大蟹道：“看在眾賓客的份上，這次饒你不死。下次再犯決不輕饒。”
大蟹立即爬出去，現了原形。
好大聖心裏竊想：“牛王正在喝酒。我不能等他。即便宴會散了，他也不會把扇子借給我。我應該偷了他金睛獸，變成一個牛魔王，向鐵扇公主騙取那芭蕉扇。”

Monkey King turned himself into a large crab weighing eighteen kilograms,
and jumped into the water and sank to the bottom. He suddenly saw a
beautiful ornamental archway under which there was the Ox Devil King’s
golden-eye-water-avoiding animal. Beyond the archway, there was no water at
all. Crawling into a palace, Monkey King found that, as a host, the old
dragon spirit was having a grand banquet to entertain his guests and
officials. Ox Devil King was drinking wine together with the old dragon
spirit. Seeing the large crab, the old dragon cried, “Catch the crab!”
The crab was caught immediately, but he said in human language, “Spare my
life! Spare my life!”
“You wild crab!” the old dragon shouted. “Where do you come from? How
can you have the courage to wantonly crawl in front of my distinguished
guests? Tell me the truth. Otherwise, I don’t let you off.”
“I live in mud and grass. No one has ever taught me anything about social
etiquette,” said the crab. “I’m sorry if I’ve offended you.”
On his words, all the guests interceded with the old dragon for the crab.
“I let you off this time to show due respect for my guests’ feelings,”
Said the old dragon. “There’s no leniency for the second offence!”
Crawling out at once, the crab turned into Monkey King.
“Ox Devil King is drinking wine with the old dragon spirit,” thought
Monkey King. “I cannot wait for him. What’s more, even if the banquet
ends now, I still don’t think he will lend me the fan. I’d better steal
his water-avoiding animal and turn into Ox Devil King to cheat Iron Fan
Princess out of her fan.”



5．


那大聖到於潭外，將身變作牛王模樣，打著獸，縱著雲，不多時，已至翠雲山芭蕉洞口。
大聖叫聲：“開門！”
那洞門裏有兩個女童，聞得聲音開了門，看見是牛魔王嘴臉，即入報。
那鐵扇公主聽言，急忙出門迎接，太過激動，認他不出，即攜手而入。
“牛王”道：“夫人久闊，十分想念。”
鐵扇公主道：“真的嗎？大王寵幸新婚，想必十分快活吧？”
大聖笑道：“那是當然，不過對你也非敢拋撇。”
鐵扇公主道：“謝謝。不過你所來何事呀？”
大聖道：“近聞悟空那廝保唐?僧，將近火焰山界，恐他來問你借扇子。但來時，可差人報我，等我拿他，分屍萬段。”
鐵扇公主道：“所言極是。”
大聖道：“此話怎講？”
鐵扇公主把猴王借扇之事備述一遍。
大聖問道：“你把扇子借給他啦？”
鐵扇公主道：“是的，不過那是假的。”
大聖問：“ 真扇在於何處？”
鐵扇公主道：“放心，放心！我收著哩。”
那假牛王假裝關心道：“ 早晚仔細。但恐孫行者卻又來騙去。”
鐵扇公主笑嘻嘻的，口中吐出，隻有一個杏葉兒大小，遞與大聖。

Monkey King came out of the water and turned back to himself again from
the crab. Riding the golden-eye animal in the clouds, he came to the mouth
of Palm Cave in Mt. Green Clouds.
“Open the door!” turning into Ox Devil King, Monkey King cried out.
Two girls opened the door. Seeing Ox Devil King come back, they went to
make a report immediately.
Iron Fan Princess came out before long. Being too excited to recognize the
true colors of this Ox Devil King, the princess urged him to enter her
room.
“Long time no see,” said Ox Devil King, “I miss you very much.”
“Really?” asked the princess. “Married a new beauty and you’re very
happy, aren’t you?”
“Sure,” said Ox Devil King. “But I’ll never forget you.”
“Thank you very much,” said the princess. “But why do you come back?”
“I heard that Monkey King is escorting Tang Monk to take the Buddhist
ures.” Said Ox Devil King. “I’m afraid he’ll come here to borrow
your fan to put out the fire and cross the Flame Mountain. If he comes,
just tell me. I’ll fight him and kill him.”
“You have talked right,” said the princess.
“What do you mean?”
She told him the whole story about Monkey King’s coming here to borrow
the fan.
“You really lent your fan to him?”
“Yes,” she said. “But that’s not the true one. I just lent him a false
one.”
“Then where is the true one?”
“You may rest assured,” said the princess. “I hid it in an absolutely
safe place.”
“You should be very careful,” Ox Devil King pretended to be much
concerned about her. “I’m afraid the monkey will come to cheat you.”
“Here it is!” she took out a fan from her mouth which was small as an
apricot leave and handed it to Ox Devil King.


大聖接在手中，卻又不信，暗想著：“這些些兒，怎生扇得火滅？怕又是假的。”
鐵扇公主 見他看著寶貝沉思，便上前問：“你在想什麽？”
大聖就趁腳兒蹺問他一句道：“這般小小之物，如何扇得八百裏火焰？”
鐵扇公主問道：“你這是怎麽啦？怎麽自家的寶貝事情，也都忘了？隻將左手大指頭撚著那柄兒上第七縷紅絲，念一聲‘苾噓嗬吸嘻吹呼’，即長一丈二尺長短。這寶貝變化無窮！那怕他八萬裏火焰，可一扇而消也。”
大聖聞言，切切記在心上，卻把扇兒也噙在口裏，把臉抹一抹，現了本象。
那大聖厲聲高叫道：“我的公主！你看看我可是你親老公！”
那女子一見是孫行者，不禁大吃一驚。大聖也沒工夫和他廢話，立即跑出洞，一個筋鬥翻到山頂。他站在那裏想讓扇子長大。果真見效。可他卻不能把扇子縮小，原來行者隻討了個長的方法，不曾討他個小的口訣，左右隻是那等長短。沒奈何，隻得搴在肩上。

With the fan in hand, Monkey King didn’t believe that such a small fan
could put out the fire. It seemed as if Ox Devil King was engrossed in
thought,.
“What are you thinking about?” she asked.
Taking this opportunity, Monkey King asked, “This small fan can really
put out the fire? How can it be possible?”
“What’s the matter with you?” asked she. “How can you forget our
treasured fan so soon? Maybe because you spare too much time to be with
your new beauty. You’re too busy, aren’t you?” she added. “Let me
remind you.”
“Thank you.”
“You just press the seventh strand of the red silk on the fan handle with
the thumb of your left hand, and mutter ‘Bixuaxixichuihu’, the fan will
become twelve feet long,” said the princess. “The treasured fan possesses
enormous ability. It can put out any fire no matter how wide the fire will
spread. Even if the fire area is eighty thousand miles wide, it will be out
immediately.”
Keeping her words firmly in mind, Ox Devil King put the fan into his mouth
and wiped his face with his hand. The false Ox Devil King turned back into
Monkey King immediately.
“My dear princess,” Monkey King satirized, “look at me! Am I your
beloved husband?”
Looking at Monkey King, the princess was startled. Having no time to say
anything more to her, Monkey King ran out of the cave immediately and then
turned a somersault and came onto the top of a peak. Standing there, he
tried to make the fan become larger. His trial was crowned with success.
But he couldn’t make it smaller because he didn’t ask the princess for
the way of size-reducing. Willy-nilly, he had to carry the big fan on his
shoulder.


6.


筵席散了，牛魔王出得門來，不見了辟水金睛獸。
牛王道：“我的辟水金睛獸哪裏去了？”
老龍王聚眾精問道：“是誰偷放牛爺的金睛獸也？”
眾精跪下道：“我等沒人敢偷。”
老龍道：“可曾有甚生人進來？”
有人提醒道：“有個蟹精到此，那個便是生人。”
牛王聞說，頓然省悟道：“不消講了！那必是孫悟空。”
老龍問：“孫悟空何許人？”
牛王道：“他總惹是生非。早間曾大鬧天宮。”
老龍道：“似這般說，大王的駿騎，卻如之何？”
牛王笑道：“不妨，不妨，等我趕他去來。”

All guests filed out after the banquet. Ox Devil King found his golden-eye
animal disappeared.
“Where is my golden-eye animal?” he asked.
“Who stole it?” the old dragon asked.
“We didn’t.” All the guests said in one voice.
“Are there any strangers here?” the old dragon asked again.
“There was a crab just now,” one of the guests reminded.
“Yes,” the old dragon said.
“That’s right,” Ox Devil King suddenly saw the light. “That must be
Sun Wukong.”
“Which Sun Wukong?” the old dragon asked.
“The trouble-maker, Monkey King,” said Ox Devil King. “He once made
troubles in the heavenly palace.”
“Yes, I know,” the old dragon said to Ox Devil King. “Now that you lost
your golden-eye animal, you can use my horse.”
“Thank you,” said Ox Devil King. “But I don’t need it. I can catch up
with the monkey.”


出得水來，牛王並未去追趕猴王，而是徑至翠雲山芭蕉洞。見辟水金睛獸拴在門口。
鐵扇公主見到牛王口裏罵道：“潑老天殺的！怎樣這般不謹慎，著那猢猻偷了金睛獸?”
牛王道：“出了什麽事？”
鐵扇公主把悟空如何騙扇之事備述端詳。
牛王道：“孫悟空那廂去了？”
鐵扇公主道：“他早跑了。”
牛王道：“夫人勿得心焦，等我趕上猢猻！”
牛王說完走出芭蕉洞，徑奔火焰山上趕來。

Coming out of the water, Ox Devil King didn’t pursuit Monkey King but
came back to his cave. He found his golden-eye animal at the door.
“Why were you so careless and gave a chance to the monkey to steal you
golden-eye animal?” asked the princess to Ox Devil King.
“What happened?” Ox Devil King asked.
The princess told him the whole story about Monkey King’s cheating the
fan out of her.
“Where is he now?”
“He’s run away.”
“Don’t worry,” said Ox Devil King. “Let me catch him!”
Ox Devil King left the cave and ran towards the Flame Mountain.
