OK. I can't argue with age. But I wonder how those exercise fiends, e.g., runners and martial artists, get to live to their 90s and could still do marathons and feats. By taking supplements? I doubt it.

Yes, you are right if you are young.
醫生告,正常情況下,人一般是不缺鎂的。但老年人不同,他們首先吃的東西少,消化功能差了,需要的鎂元素就可能不足了,此時,補充鎂就成了一種輔助手段。我還曾擔心,鎂多了是否有害。但還沒有查到有關資料,也即,多了可能就自然排出去了?
我想這個道理和吃多種維生素一樣,50歲之前,醫生從不建議我吃,但50歲之後,他就建議我吃,一直每天吃到現在。。

Wary of the profit-seeking US medical system (or consumerism in general), I'd add magnesium-rich foods to my diet: bananas, cashew nuts, avocado, etc., instead of taking pills.
