"Western culture always tries to find a beginning, pi has beginning, the Universe has a beginning (big bang theory), but they can't figure out an ending. Eastern culture believes neither beginning or ending..."
this is right and wrong .... :)
the very first time i heard the phrase, "the end of the world" or "apocalypticism" etc., was not from a Chinese, but Americans....
PI, though a sicentific/mathematic discovery, somehow reveals the nature of the Universe....that is, human beings cannot always find the neat, precise "answers"!!!!!
it is not only a philosophical thing, though it inspires philosophical thinking....

Everything or No-thing runs in circles,
no beginning, no ending....
beginning is the ending
the ending is the beginning.

很優美的派。
有一些符號是很有趣。象太極圖,有中生無,無中生有,也是無邊無際的一個圓。
