山雨欲來風滿樓

三十年前， 我在山大英文係三年級。由於種種原因我幾乎不上課。原因之一是老師的湖南，湖北等口音我聽不懂，其二是我的一個老師總是說‘你知道’，我想既然我知道，何必去上課。當然， 還有一些其它的原因。但有一門課，我倒是去了兩次。那是紫老師的漢譯英課。當時紫老師年齡好像是二十出頭，長的好， 又會打扮。課程是秋天開的。我很興奮， 因為當時天氣還不冷，紫老師上課穿著裙子，漂亮的大腿露在外麵。後來天冷了，紫老師也加了很多衣服。我就不去上課了。
我很清楚記得第一堂課紫老師用一個例子給這門課來了個開場白。她在黑板上寫：
山雨欲來風滿樓
之後問大家如何翻譯。同時她提到不同的場合會又不同的翻譯。她讓大家想想就這句話本身應如何譯。
她話沒完， 就有一個同學舉手：‘no pain，no gain’。
記得紫老師搖搖頭， 好像是不讚同。阿八同學說：Unrest of wind before a wild storm。 ‘不錯’， 紫老師說。 ‘Wind is ahead of rain’， 一個同學高呼著。‘Wind fulling a building before rain coming’， 又有個同學。忽然，彩虹同學舉手：‘他們沒把樓和山都譯出來’。紫老師問：‘你說應該如何譯？’ 彩虹拿出來她的翻譯：
The house tumults as wind swirls,
Ushering in a storm from the hills
’好 tumults 用的好‘，紫老師嗓音提高了。‘老師，看我的’， 一個同學手裏拿著一張紙：gusty wind whips through the tower and mountain rain follows after。‘whip 妙‘， 紫老師很高興， ’有沒有別的同學了？‘
’a mountain storm looms closer
as wind whips through the tower‘
一個同學喊到。’老師， 他偷了我的whip'， 方才用whip的同學迫不及待。他一說完，教室哄堂大笑。
’還有麽？‘ 紫老師又問。‘the gusty wind heralds a raging storm’， ‘地道’， 紫老師誇獎。
‘my house be full of wind since the mt. rain', 一個叫誌子的說。‘be？’ 有同學問。’根據場合‘，誌子答。’‘我也來個be’， 侯子同學也喊了：
'Me and my roof be blown off if shit wind ain’t stop!'
全班同學又都大笑起來。紫老師臉紅了。
等課堂快要結束時， 紫老師講了她的理解，以及直譯和意譯。不知是不是因為她腿的原因， 我記不清她的翻譯了。
那堂課給我留下深刻的印象。
