Here is the situation:
1). I work at a firm dominated by white and Jewish management and I just stumbled by accident on a spreadsheet at the common printer that contained the compensation summary and noticed I was paid 1/3 less than my colleagues who do about the same work and joined the firm later than I did.
2). My boss, who goes way back with my other more highly paid colleagues, always tells me that I am on the same level as the other guys (we have the identical title of VP) and how he and others respected me for my work. During my recent merit pay increase discussion, my boss stated everyone was getting the same pay raise however he was only talking about the percentage pay raise; in fact my raise is 1/3 lower than the others because their base is higher, and the gap in $$ gets bigger as time passes.
3). My compensation is quite high ($300+K per annum). I can easily find another job but will have to take a pay cut at least initially - what would you do if you were in my shoes?
