其實除了大學職稱,其他職稱中國隻有三級(初中高).而美國要麽更細(工業界)要麽更粗(醫生).所以"主任醫生=教授"恐怕不妥.

在日本,SCIENTIST係列有助理研究員,研究員,高級研究員,主任研究員,主席研究員.

在美國各公司scientist係列也不一樣,舉一個例子(FORTUNE500):
assistant scientist (BS degree entry level), associate scientist (MS degree entry level), scientist (PHD entry level), sr. scientist, principal scientist/sr. principal scientist, research fellow, sr. research fellow, distinguished research fellow etc. 而且各公司相同TITLE對資曆的要求可能完全不同.所以中國的一元化遇到了美國的多元化,對等翻譯很多時候是不可能的.

Post doctor是隻有老中才用的中式英語,與"day day up"一個套路. 因為postdoctoral中post-是前綴,不能單獨成詞.其中的doc也不是指doctor(doctor作為PHD的稱呼隻能與姓(名)一起用). 英語裏隻有 postdoc 或 postdoctoral scholar/fellow/associate.

Postdoc: A postdoctoral scholar ("postdoc") is an individual holding a doctoral degree who is engaged in a temporary period of mentored research and/or scholarly training for the purpose of acquiring the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of his or her choosing.
